Hi Larmy i agree with what you say, i was at one point quiet with the childminding and cleaned friends houses more and tbh got home and just didn't want to do ours. BUT i hate having a messy house so did it anyway and got so tired from my other jobs it got silly.
The prob is in our house we have quite a lot of stuff too but i have tried to do well with storage so it can all be put away making it easier to clean, if i don't keep on top of it it gets pretty messy rather than dirty so need to keep up with it! for example dh has about 25 mags in the bathroom, i will be going up shrtly weedling them down and putting them in the garage which he will never notice but just incase he does they are there!

Mutter the cleaner/s work with me in my part time job and are very anal, they, and i use different colour cloths for each room and thing so i am not concerned that anything is being wiped with something it shouldn't be! I thought they would be good here but as the bathroom is still dirty i am not so sure what was done.

The water mark is being cleaned tommorow as she text me last night saying she will come over with her carpet cleaner and sort it out..fingers crossed it gets the smell out!

I think people who work as cleaners fall into two groups; those who really get a sense of satisfaction out of doing a good job and probably just enjoy cleaning; those who just need what they see as an easy way of earning some money and will cut corners to make the job as easy as possible.

Our last office cleaner was in the first group, the new one is in the last group and I've got to talk to her about standards, all she wants to do is plod around flicking a duster here and there randomly and everywhere is starting to look grubby. But I know it can be done thoroughly in the time because the last cleaner did a great job. So the best idea, of course, is do what you want done in the time given, and ask them to match that.

We also have a couple of cleaners give us a blitz at home once a fortnight. Two of them in two hours do: kitchen (floor wash, hob clean, tile clean, sink clean), main bathroom (clean loo, bath and basin, tiles, mirror, floor wash, windowsill), ensuite (clean loo, basin and shower including shower doors, windowsill) hoover all round whole house including 2 flights of stairs, dusting in living room, and bedrooms.

I only just found this thread. I am a cleaner and work for myself. I'm sorry if I missed this but are they a local company (a franchise?). You can claim on their insurance if there is a problem with the spilled water.
As for having two at once, I really dont like this idea. One is dusting while other is hoovering. I always 'try' and put everything back in its place after cleaning, sometimes the odd thing wont be, that you will have to live with but things like kettles etc in middle of worktops is sloppy. A good cleaner will do the jobs asked and more beside.
I think I am a very good cleaner, I have a waiting list and excellent references.
Look for one cleaner from someone who has been recommended. You should be paying at least £10 per hour for this. (Remember they will be self employed)

    Hi thanks for the replies.

Well the cleaner came yesterday and i left her to it as was going out. She said did i want the top set of stairs done too with the cleaner to which i said if she was willing to do a set of stairs i would rather it be the first set you get to as the main ones can get grubby from people sitting on to take shoes off etc..she said she would do it all. I have to say the mark is 10 times better and as good as it will get, the stairs coming from the top are in good condition anyway so look great and the first set look really good so i really appreciate her doing it.

I have just while preparing dinner cleaned the kitchen. I have moved and wiped everything off the sides, cleaned the top of the cooker, swept the floor and cleaned all the sink bit, took me about 10 mins as like i said the sides are always clutter free (well when they come they are!) and just need the odd bit moving so shouldn't take long. I think my trouble is i will do anything, the more mess the more satisfying it is! my friends was a total mess but tbh i like it as find it looks like i have done a really good job..which i have!

ALSO!! moan moan..the stairs are today filthy with bits due to 7 children up and down them this morning (some school run children they wanted to look at the cats!) the lounge is sand coated and had bits of the rabbits straw in due to as soon as we started cleaning it out the wind started! basically what im saying is i think im expecting to do a lot less and find i'm not..just hoovered the lounge and swept not yet mopped..the downstairs loo has just been cleaned before the cats were fed..again mucky..skirtings filthy so not been done since they started looking at them. SO i'm doing what id'e so anyway!!
