hope your head doesnt hurt too much ..

take your time with the homework.. there is no rush here ... break it down into bitesize chunks ... you can never swallow the elephant whole you need to nibble a bit at a time

MOST IMPORTANT THING .... BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF

Thanks :o I'm so pleased I bit the bullet! Also because I have to pay course fees and buy equipment at the first session at the beginning of September I need to save £400 in 3 months - so I have my incentive to quit drinking :)!

Hey everyone & it's great to hear so many positive steps forward.

I have been pondering on which area bothers me the most & it is definitely the health/weight/size issue - even more so than the debt; which doesnt make me feel self conscious or bad about myself or even affect what leisure acitivities I do, how I express myself & what I wear etc.

I'm definitely not dangerously over sized but due to various circumstances have gained about 20lbs in the last couple of years & for numerous reasons I have really struggled with maintaining the healthy eating and exercise changes that need to be made .

This wake-up call challenge is, I believe, going to provide me with the incentive to keep going until I reach my goal of shedding those 20lbs & making regular exercise & healthy food just how I live.

Today I didnt manage to get up so early to do some exercise but after finishing both jobs & having a large salad for supper DD & I went for a 30 minute bike ride along the canal.

Right now I feel good, but am so easily distracted or disheartend & rather than try again I have a tendency to move the goal posts so that I dont perceive myself as having failed :o

Please nag freely & regulalry :D

Good Morning Everyone, forgive me for boring you all and writing down my thoughts from Homework 1. Feel free to jump straight past this post :)

WORK 6 I took early retirement 4 months ago, I hated my new boss, hated getting up at 4.15am to get the first bus, walk a couple of miles and start work at 6am. I would like a part time job, but only something I could enjoy.

MONEY 8 No debts anymore but my only income is a widows pension and a small company pension from my work. However I love frugal living :)

HEALTH 8 I am rarely ill, my bmi is 24, I go to the gym 3 times a week and swim once a week. I am vegetarian and don't drink but do confess to the odd cigarette. I have a bit of arthritis which is manageable. I always look for a natural remedy before drugs.

FAMILY 7 Mother, daughter, son. Great relationship with one, OK relationship with another, the third I rarely see but do keep in touch with on facebook. Must work on that though.

HOME 7 I love my little house, it's not fancy and needs money spending on it but I have been very happy here. Unfortunately I have the neighbours from h*ll, I have tried the antisocial behaviour/environmental health route but it has got me nowhere. I think about selling but would always feel like I'd been forced out so I think I'm going to try and stick it out. They are tenants and hopefully will move on one day. This too shall pass.

RELATIONSHIPS 5 As I posted earlier I am not in a relationship. I would prefer to be but I can see the plus side as well as the minus.

SOCIAL LIFE 3 OH and I were happy going for a long walk or watching a dvd together, he was my best friend. I am quite shy and I find it difficult to walk into a room full of strangers, and don't have much spare cash to join clubs etc. So I spend too much time on my own getting depressed about the neighbours. I have joined a couple of 'Friends of the park' type groups. This is clearly where I need to make most improvement as getting out more would stop me sitting at home feeling fed up.

    OK ready for Homework 2

Wow - this thread is really making us think - thank you elantan!:j

I was looking at my Wheel of Life stuff on the train this morning and was thinking a great deal about it last night, after getting together with my good friend and fitness guru. I know where I want to be and how it needs to be done. But I do need to:

    - stop being so damned hard on myself. Self-criticism doesn't do it justice, how I manage to get myself in such emotional knots over the most stupid things.

    - not try and do everything yesterday!

    - be more open about my feelings to my OH. I can be a bit of a closed book - I think if I epxress how I feel about something important and conflict is possible, the sky will fall in. Doh! It didn't when we faced up to our horrendous debt mountain several years ago, we dealt with it and are now (all being well) on the home straight.

    - explore all the possibilities of the training area that I want to go into (coaching/counselling arena) and be open to alternatives (and if anyone has any experience of this, PLEASE let me know!!).

I have to do all this soul-searching and work too?!! :eek:Yes, madam, just bite the bullet.....:rotfl:
