I just did the wheel- was a bit of a coward about it before and now i know why_pale__pale_
Surprising how we fool ourselves thinking lots of areas in our life are fine. However identifying them is a very positive thing..
Two areas, i do want to work on are:
1.fun
2.health and fitness..i am hoping that these two go hand in hand:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Here is the result of my homework. I know the idea is that in the future we do the homework again and see if anything has improved or worsened. I've decided to share my thoughts to help others work through their own.
Work = 4
I've 2 jobs the 1st is a deadend, the 2nd preferred career but unsociable. I need my 2nd job to become full time.
Money = 3
Debted up to the eyeballs, but I make a decent amount of money so there is potential
Religion = 4
I believe, but I don't go to church. Is it the Catholic church I stay away from? Would spending Sunday mornings praying help?
Health = 8
I'm no longer classed as overweight, my blood pressure and other things are fine, but two jobs deprive me of sleep
Social life = 2
The 2 jobs reduce my spare time so I have to fit friends, family and social events around the work. Lack of money means we can't do some things with friends and generally I always seem to get used by people.
Personal relationship = 7
I love my OH dearly, but because of her illness and my 2nd job we rarely get intimate if at all. Its not a quick fix of buying a s*x book to spice things up. I respect her and I'm patient and while it is difficult not having that contact I know that in the future things will get better as it is the illness/situation not because of a lack of love.
Hope people find this helpful. I found it helpful just to write it.
PS I've mentioned this before, but I notice people saying they want to lose weight. First, please don't become obsessed and concentrate on the 'size' of the clothes rather than your weight and being healthy. I'm trying not to sound like an advert, but The South Beach diet did wonders for me and helped with my new year resolution to eat healthier. The first couple of weeks were hard, but I found it far more satisfying than Weight Watchers, Slimming world or the other one that was in the news a lot. The cost of a couple of books was all that I have paid out.FLM £170.00/£1430.84, Savings £2.00, PAD Additions PAID

Morning Everyone
Must admit the 'homework' has made me realise just how much I have rather than how much I lack. Clearly some room for improvement in my life but I seem to see it from a glass half full perspective now. Thanks Elantan

Okay I am going to try and do my homework today - after I have made a raft of phone calls (one of which is to get some money back from the Government
that one should be fun!), it is going to be interesting trying to do this because it appears that my weight/health is not something I can change on my own as yesterday I got confirmation that I have hypothroidism (otherwise known as low thyroid function) and that is the main reason that I have been unable to shift the weight even though I have been dieting! My weight will be all over the show whilst they get the medication levels sorted (so that really WILL be interesting :eek:), and my weight/health is one of my main areas of concern
- but as I say I will sit down and think about this later AND think about things I can change on my own. Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Morning everyone!
Thats exactly how I felt about it too Bob! It really was the wake up call that I needed, like Elantan says, its gonna get fixed somehow!
I think I've identified the first thing I need to change, the thing that is causing a huge knock on effect to everything else.....I have to stop drinking.
I drink because I'm depressed, I'm depressed because of the state of my life including my job, I work in my job to pay for the booze that I drink.
Talk about a wake up call!! Now trying to work out whether I'm a carrot or a stick person to incentivise myself to quit. DH suggested saving the money towards a puppy from the same breeder that I got my gorgeous doggles from, which is completely realistic because the pups cost around £600 mark, which (at first quick calculation this morning) is roughly two months drinking money.

Homework got me thinking too. Will do it tomorrow, honest teach'.
I'd love to wake up in the morning and be clear about what I need to do, and what I want to do. Instead of the usual cascade of befuzzled thoughts of a chaotic mismash of chores/work/family/study. My day just happens at me.DC.

Good luck getting your cash out of them Dragon!
The news on the thyroid condition is probably good news really - at least they've identified why you've had a problem shifting the weight and once you get the thyroxene (or whatever its called these days) sorted I'm sure it'll make things tons easier!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
Dragon, some years ago I had a virus that knocked out my thyroid , I remember how much it hurt even to put one foot in front of the other, it is amazing just how much of the body the thyroid controls. You will feel much better when it gets sorted.

Love it - and recognise it.:oDifferent_Corner wrote: »I'd love to wake up in the morning and be clear about what I need to do, and what I want to do. Instead of the usual cascade of befuzzled thoughts of a chaotic mismash of chores/work/family/study. My day just happens at me.
I had an incredibly organised mother and nearly all my working life I was working to a timetable - add in no self-discipline and you have a recipe for a lot of wasted time in retirement.0 -
I just wanted to let you guys know that I've taken steps to improve my employment situation.....I've enrolled on an evening course in Beauty Therapy - something I've always wanted to do, and actually tried to do about 6 or 7 years ago. I almost feel like I've gone back in time
