Welcome Jubilee76, PurpleJellyFish, ayedlfc and andy40, I set the tread up but Elantan is the one doling out the homework :rotfl:

I hope to be able to start this this evening - I have a docs appointment the afternoon I wasn't expecting (got a phone call this morning asking me to see the Doctor after my nurses appointment, they took bloods to check thyroid, cholesterol and diabetes , so at the moment I can't get my head around anything)

Hope your results come through ok. I'm not surprised you can't get your heard around anything at the moment. I had to have all those tests done a few months ago and when I got the phone call asking to come in to see the doctor I wondered what was up. Was told cholesterol was high and needed to do some more exercise. Stay positive, hopefully the doctor just wants to talk you through the results. I'll be thinking of you.

    hi all ,

well thats night shift finished for another wee while ... after my last night shift i stay up till bedtime so that i dont mess my days up ... but it is a long haul hence the reason i wasnt on i would be spouting some gibberish ...

right ..for those that are interested and want some homework lol

i am enjoying reading some peoples thoughts ... polly your getting to the heart of the matter and having a real think about this nice one ... micron you will probably recognise alot of what i am going to be doing ... feel free to add ... infact anyone feel free to add it will help immensely

i have asked you to think about if you could change one thing would it make an impact on all the others ... now i want you to go grab a piece of paper a pen/pencil/quill whatever and start your brain storming ... there are various parts in our lives that define us .... put them into catagories ... like work , money , religon, health , social relationships, personal relationships, etc ...

then i want to you grade them to how happy you are in each out of 10 ... so if you are totally in love with your partner and you think your relationship couldnt be any better if you tried ... go for a ten ... if you think your job is okish go for say a five ... what ever feels suitable for you ..

get them all down on a piece of paper in what ever way suits you linear or a spider diagram or any other way ... its your work here and it needs to be understandable to only you .. what is the most important thing is you are totally honest with yourself ... you can lie here or to anyone else ... but to yourself you have to be totally honest ...

this is all basically aimed at getting us all to think

    good luck

    Hi Elantan,

Great homework. I'm sure everybody's results will give them food for thought. I actually completed my Wheel of Life a couple of weeks ago, hence why this thread is absolutely perfect for me to implement all the things I know I need to work on.

Hi there, please can i join?

I need to sort out our finances and pay off both our Overdrafts and the money i owe my friends (Total approx £5200)

Want to sort out our house, DIY style. We moved in last Sept and need to finish the office, hallway, dining room, kitchen and our bedroom. This involves alot of me wallpapering, new carpets, new windows etc and ideally a new kitchen but i think i need to think MS here and just repaint the kitchen cupboard doors for now :money:

We are expecting baby no2 the week of christmas so i need to get christmas presents sorted and a few baby bits along the way.

Want to keep on top of the house work, especially in the kitchen so we dont end up getting takeaway

Morning all!... I started this challenge so that i could stop wasting money.
I joined the NSD for june, only signed up for 5 days to start, but hopefully this will not be too painful and then i can move onto more NSD's!.
So far today, i havent wasted/spent any money! Yaaay its goin' well so far!. :j I need to start a spending diary so that i can see where my money is going, havent started that yet so thats a Plus also!.

Need to get list sorted for tomorrow as i know i'll have serious "spending Withdrawal" but at least if i make sure i have my list in hand, i should be on the right track. Thats the theory anyway. ;)

    Geebee,

Great decision to join the NSD thread. I started in April after realising that I was spending so much money unnecessarily. I even managed to get 25 NSDs in May and it wasn't even painful. That would never had happened if I hadn't joined the thread. The support on there is so encouraging that you actually start enjoying not spending and being able to register a NSD. Good luck... you'll be fine. Just take each day as it comes and you will hit your target and once you see the dancing elephant/banana and werewolf you'll want to aim for even more no spend days.

Hi everyone. Wow this thread is moving so fast - I keep reading something which makes me think, something I agree with, something I have a question about - by the time I've drafted a reply, another three people have said something I want to talk about. Please excuse me if I answer something you said three days ago.

elantan - thanks for the homework. :D I have to admit that when I've been given tasks like this to do in various training sessions over the years, I've actually groaned aloud. I really wanted practical answers, things I could physically do to make whatever it was better, but this thread is making me look at things in a different way.

I’ve been thinking about budgeting today. Even if I have moved debt busting to a lower priority, I still need to budget and pay bills and live for the month. For the first couple of years, when I didn’t have any leeway at all, I was fine. Since things have got a bit easier, I’ve gone totally doolally. It’s like I can only budget properly if I literally have no money, and I’m sabotaging myself into that situation every month.

Some of the things that people have said over the last couple of days have made me think about motivating myself to do stuff. Thinking back I've realised that if I have to do something (if I have no choice) I will do it; if I really feel that I want to do something (actually feel it, as opposed to just thinking that I want it, or worse still, thinking that I should do it) then I will do it. Anything in the middle seems pretty much doomed to failure; unfortunately that also seems just about pretty much everything at the moment.

I'm thinking that the outcome of this might be that I change some things so that I don't have a choice (budgeting?), and that I examine some other things to see if I really do want them (and if not, let them go, at least for the time being).

Anybody got any budgeting tips that don’t require any willpower? :D

    Polly
