    Hi all,

I hope it's ok to join you all as wow - after a couple of months of not visiting the forums and logging on tonight for first time again, this thread has completely remotivated me. Thank you so much for starting this challenge.

I've read through all the posts and I think this is the kick start I needed. Polly, your post was brilliant and totally summed it up for me.

So, my wake up call includes the following:

    1) Losing weight so clothes feel comfortable again and I feel less self conscious, exercising at least every other day

    2) Getting on with study - this is work related and would mean a pay rise so why do I keep putting it off?? 4 exams in December so I must do a timetable and stick to it

    3) I am on a DMP so payments are pretty set each month towards my debts but I would like to pay off more. Maybe try some money making ventures like ebay to increase my income.

As it is 1st June tomorrow, this feels a pretty good time for a fresh start. :)

  • Hi Dragon and all others on the thread,

I'd like to join if that's ok?

I've got several things to sort out and this thread seems to fit the bill. I'm not in debt (apart from student loan) but I do need to get my life in order.

    So...

    1) Sort out my living arrangements - I'm not happy where I am at the moment and although I'm doing something about that, I do need to seriously de-clutter (tidy-up!).
    2) Look at my job/career - again, need to sort it out
    3) Exercise - I need to get back into a routine as I feel so much healthier and happier when I do.

I needed a kick up the backside so hopefully this thread and the posters will help to keep me motivated. Money is of course a consideration in all of this so will set some specific targets for myself once I have an action plan!

I need to get my partner a job, two years unemloyment is not easy on either of us.

I need to get out of my own dead-end job.

I need to get down to studying, it will help my job prospects and my self esteem.

Not much to ask is it?

OK I have thought about it and I have ended up with a long list of things that I need a wake up call on. To start with I'll go with:

    4. Become more organised and stop procrastinating
    5. Start my home study courses (x5) which I purchased over three years ago.

I think that will do for now.

    OK
It looks as if a number of us do know what we need/want to do - so what is stopping us?
I can understand avoiding things you don't want to do, jobs that are boring, but why do we put off things we enjoy?

And yes I know about the varieties of being a procrastinator (even got more than one self-help book about it :o:o:o:o)

I think its because its the fast paced nature of todays society, people (including myself) want things now. We are not willing to sit back and work for it, and it just keeps getting worse. So that means anything that we cant have now gets left behind and forgotten about.

    Morning all!

Well its 1st June.....and that means back to work for me :(. I forgot to mention that I currently work in a Fish and Chip shop which isn't helpful to either my health, weight or self esteem but when I started there in February it was a massive step for me as I hadn't worked for nearly a year because of agrophobia. However, now I'm feeling a bit better mentally, I realise that I'm not cut out for working in a chippy - its just not stimulating, the enviroment is awful and the smell gets into everything and I can't just "think of the money" as my DH suggests!

On the plus side, I've written about half of my OU assignment this morning and have cleaned the kitchen so I have done something positive :D!!

Morning all!... I started this challenge so that i could stop wasting money.
I joined the NSD for june, only signed up for 5 days to start, but hopefully this will not be too painful and then i can move onto more NSD's!.
So far today, i havent wasted/spent any money! Yaaay its goin' well so far!. :j I need to start a spending diary so that i can see where my money is going, havent started that yet so thats a Plus also!.

Need to get list sorted for tomorrow as i know i'll have serious "spending Withdrawal" but at least if i make sure i have my list in hand, i should be on the right track. Thats the theory anyway. ;)

    hi all ,

well thats night shift finished for another wee while ... after my last night shift i stay up till bedtime so that i dont mess my days up ... but it is a long haul hence the reason i wasnt on i would be spouting some gibberish ...

right ..for those that are interested and want some homework lol

i am enjoying reading some peoples thoughts ... polly your getting to the heart of the matter and having a real think about this nice one ... micron you will probably recognise alot of what i am going to be doing ... feel free to add ... infact anyone feel free to add it will help immensely

i have asked you to think about if you could change one thing would it make an impact on all the others ... now i want you to go grab a piece of paper a pen/pencil/quill whatever and start your brain storming ... there are various parts in our lives that define us .... put them into catagories ... like work , money , religon, health , social relationships, personal relationships, etc ...

then i want to you grade them to how happy you are in each out of 10 ... so if you are totally in love with your partner and you think your relationship couldnt be any better if you tried ... go for a ten ... if you think your job is okish go for say a five ... what ever feels suitable for you ..

get them all down on a piece of paper in what ever way suits you linear or a spider diagram or any other way ... its your work here and it needs to be understandable to only you .. what is the most important thing is you are totally honest with yourself ... you can lie here or to anyone else ... but to yourself you have to be totally honest ...

this is all basically aimed at getting us all to think

    good luck
