thanks for the hints and tips

janb5 - i wouldnt expect them to have indelible pens. the point is that parents seem to treat the store as a creche, and are oblivious to the fact that little jimmy is wreaking havoc and causing damage to stock or risk to themselves/others because its too much too much to expect of his parents to supervise him (yet you should here them moan when he does manage to pull over a display and injure himself, or they are asked to pay for the damaged item  )

anyhoo, rant over :D thanks for all the advice peeps

Some little OIK at school managed to shake a black biro all over my brand new animal coat. The only way i could get it off was buying one of the stain devil bottles specifically for biro.

I managed to get a compensation claim from work as i thought my less than a week old xmas pressie from OH was ruined, but then managed to get the stain out too. ;)

I think it was a couple of quid for the bottle, but it had loads in and i still have some left.

I hope this is the right board to post this.
I had my reception yesterday. I looked at my wedding dress this morning and there is quite a large biro mark on the front bodice. I dont know how on earth it got there. I want to wear the dress again for photo shots. Does anyone know how to get it off without it being really pricey. The material is Italian satin with organza inset.
Thanx a lot for any advice on this.

Some dry cleaners specialise in cleaning wedding dresses so perhaps give them a call first for advice.

When my son got biro on his football shirt I used a small dab of Meth Spirit on a dry cloth but I'd be nervous about using this on your beautiful wedding dress.

ask the makers/shop where you bought dress or dry cleaners for advice. do you shop at tescos- if so can use your vouchers for dry cleaning. help reduce the price. i would avoid doing it yourself and have it done professionally- dress would cost more to replace & if dry cleaners etc mess it up you can sue them for damage. most places have specialist dry cleaners.

I got a mark on my satin wedding dress when I was making it and I tried glycerine which worked - but I didn't really have anything to lose because I had enough fabric to replace that piece if it all went wrong. If you try this do try it out on the inside of the hem first to make sure it doesn't mark
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

If you're having professional photos, I would have thought you could ask them to edit the mark out of the photos if you can't get rid of it.

Much as I love my budding 2 year old artist she has just drawn all over an upholstered chair with biro:eek: !!
I'm sure that there will be a thread on here somewhere but I am in too much of a panic to find it. Any ideas or links for cleaning it or will it need specialist cleaning?
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
