A green parakeet feeding in our garden again. It's appeared almost every day this week. There are lots flying around in our area but being tall tree feeders they rarely seem to venture down into gardens. such a vibrant flash of green colour.

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    MrBD, beautiful!

Last night we were out working after dark and a friend popped in. We had the outdoor lights on and were in the farm yard, not the garden. but it was quiet, and the ground, the walls, the gates, the windows....everything, was sparkling. Our yard is not in the best state ATM, but just then it looked the most beautiful place.
  • I have just received a free baby tree IN A CARDBOARD TUBE from Velvet Tissues today, which was promised about October!!!
It's on the kitchen table in a small hessian bag and is about 2 feet high.
Any suggestions please? There are not instructions with it,not even what variety it is!
All our plant pots are under snow and any soil is rock hard.We are in a rural area, this morning it was -13 degrees.
Should I buy compost and plant it in a pot and put it in an unheated room?
    Any help gratefully received!

We planted our's in a pot with compost and put it in the plastic green house. The leaves that were on it fell off and when I checked about 2 weeks ago (before the snow) there was a couple of small green shoots. Not sure what it is doing now! Good luck

Discovered that my lovely DS, who lives oop norf, sneakily reads my posts on MSE almost every day. Aww, didn't know he cared so much - or is he just checking up that his mother doesn't disgrace him? ;) Did make me feel warm to find out, though :)
