Just as a bit of further info with regards to the email I had.

The address stated in the email was my old address and I moved from there about 8 months ago. So I've not entered any comps in that address for about 9 months.

Also I was NOT on the electoral roll at that address, and all of the bills were in my boyfriends name as the flat was his. NOBODY apart from my family and friends (and the job centre) knew I was living there. Also, when entering comps, I am VERY careful about tick boxes.

So it MUST be from a dodgy comp where it was set up purely to con personal details out of people, or from a genuine comp in which they have sold on our details.

Whoever they are they seem to own a lot of scammy websites!

    Check out:

**** - Not allowed to post links yet!

Everything from 74.63.51.129 (cashconnectonline.com) all the way down to 74.63.51.178 (fed-pack.com fed-secrets.com processing-ssl.com) appears to belong to them!

I would tend to agree with you given the domain names but for reference these sites are simply hosted on the same server as the one you checked.

So, facebook anyone? Mines came to my work email and I wouldnt enter a comp with it. I have a hotmail account that I use for junk stuff.

Funnily enough I didnt get it in my hotmail!
  • I have not been at the address quoted by them for nearly 8 years so I think they got the information from Friends Reunited as I am down at having lived at that address and it is linked to my hotmail email address.

I have received the same message, but how do they know our address...
  • My daughter has just recieved one of these emails. She set up an Orange internet account at the address they mentioned but has since moved and she got the email on her Orange.net addy. She used this email address to do an online IQ test once but it didn't ask for her actual b&m address and she used a fake name so I don't think it was that site that sold on her info. The only other times she has used that account has been to contact Orange themselves. Her email addy isn't *her name* @ orange.net so they couldn't have got her name from her email addy, I can only assume it was directly or indirectly from Orange. She does have facebook now, but joined while she was at her present address and it's not linked in any way to her orange account. I'm totally confused about this. She knows all about scams and phishing emails so she wouldn't have been taken in by it, but I want to know how someone got all that information about her.

Some of those online IQ test things are notorius for being a bit scammy and so it is more likely to be them than Orange? Who knows.

Anyone who got this scam spam email should forward it to this address (US authorities spam database):
