But email addresses do NOT appear on electoral registers...Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Hey, same here
All my details are correct but i never use this email address for anything other than sending mail to either friends, or if i ordering online? Even this account i have on here is not registered to the email address I recieved this email from. I have 2 emails accounts, one for private personal use and another that i use when signing up to stuff because of all the spam you can sometimes get. So really confused as to how they, 1) got my name and address and, 2) that its been sent to my personal/private email address??
Person sending email is celinafortesnc862@yahoo.com
I have used this email addy at the following:
Virgin, Asda, TGI's, Totaljobs, Experian, Next, TVlicensing, Onlineautomotive and facebook! These are the only places ive used this email addy, i dont enter comps so obviously they have my details from one of these??0 -

Mine was from fayth seecharan (faythseecharantu387@yahoo.com)
I dont use my hotmail account much so it must be from the registration details0 -
My stepson received this - but in a text on his phone!!! Exactly same format, correct address etc.
He is not on the electoral roll, & does not do competitions!
Where on earth are they getting the information from??0 -
Just a little more info on this for you.. If you input some random details in the "get my money" box , you are directed to this site
grantsdot.com/signup/gateways/signup.php?memberid=3412145&gateway=CUREPAY
it appears they are selling a grant kit software package for 1.95 also the small print states ..
"Submitting this form instantly activates your free trial and you will be charged a £1.95 processing fee. You will receive access to our grant package for a full twenty-four hours to evaluate the product. If you're happy, do nothing and you will be charged £39 every thirty days for uninterrupted access to the latest content. Email addresses are are indeed nothing to do with the electoral register, they are however shared between pretty much any company you happen to write to. If you don't take care and tick boxes, your address will be passed to all and sundry!
I too would hope nobody would be as stupid to fall for something like this. It's just another obvious scam email which deserves to be binned and forgotten about. A name and address is about as much use to someone as a chocolate teapot....They need to fool you into part 2 to benefit them....I moved out of the address they had for me over a year ago anyway :rotfl:0 -
I also got this email and I always deselect all the 'opt in' options...me thinks somewhere my details have been sold on!0
-
I was keeping eye on junk mail and received an e-mail from harriot elerson <harriotelersonju305@yahoo.com> for £20,000 government money which I don't have to repay:rotfl:. Thank God it is in my nick name!! I've used my nick name for some freebies:(0

I got the same email from hilliaryscheppeng810@yahoo.com but the address was completely wrong (not just wrong street but wrong country it's an address in the US [Huntington Station, NY 11746] and I have never lived there!)
First name was correct though even though my email address only has my initial and surname:

Are you still at XX GRAY AVE?

There is a scam called grants360 don't know if it's related to that?

However the website in my spam /scam email is usgrants360.us

Yes Delhi, Italy - !!!!!!!?
But someone with that email address has posted in some forums about buying email addresses (coreg data) and also commented in a thread about someone selling a custom hotmail mailer: (spamming software??)

Other spam emails are using ukgrants.eu ukgrants.im and ukgrants.be - but all three domains automatically forward /redirect to tracklead.net/click.track?CID=118333&AFID=104737&ADID=284172&SID=eu and then on to http://www.grantsdot.com/uk/
As someone pointed out above grantsdot.com has the company name of Caddish Rondeaux Enterprises Ltd which belongs to an address in County Durham.
As you can see from this website which investigated these scams, there seem to be a lot of links between various scams in the US (particularly Utah) and UK Ltd companies with addresses in Durham:

A search on Google for Caddish Rondeaux Enterprises grantsdot.com also turned up this website:
