Whilst I agree about the 'pointlessness' of this unit - I nevertheless bought one when on offer at ASDA (sucker for gadgets)

I tried to prise the lid off to refill but found that quite difficult and could easily have damaged me or the dispenser

    ...so I found and alternative

    - I purchased Dettol antibacterial soap ( 1 pound as opposed to 2.56 for the correct dispenser refill) and used a syringe which I had lying around (previously used for refilling ink cartridges) WITHOUT the needle to refill the dispenser through the valve in the empty soap cartridge (hold syringe at a slight angle to allow flow through the valve)

worked a treat - only took a couple of minutes

I have done this 3 times so far and still working perfectly

It is absolutely brilliant in the kitchen eg today I dismantled a chicken and my hands were covered in raw chicken goo. I got the soap onto my hands without touching anything and then lifted the tap handle with my clean forearm. It all depends on the tap really

Not to mention the fact you're probably going to dry your hands on a germy towel anyway!

Take the bottle out and then just prize off the big plastic lid (if you know what I mean?) The bit that faces down when you place it in your dispenser.

To confirm what others have said...

Use a strong teaspoon to remove the lid. it pops off easily.
Slide the spoon end between the bottle and lid---pop!

It seems better than ever with Sainsburys own brand soap. :j

Good guide in Lexis link for refilling, sometimes it's easier if you see pictures.

Do be careful though it flies off at a fair speed, done it twice now & easy peasy.

Aren't these things just a waste of time anyway? OK, so you touch a normal one and get some germs on your hand, but you are just about to wash them anyway, and you have no reason to touch it again until next time you come to wash your hands, so what's the problem?

my thought exactly, see they thought that marketing idea through... buying one of these on that basis? you gota be bloody mad....and gullible
