Just a thought but wouldn't these be a godsend for people with arthritis in their hands? Would be one less thing they needed to 'work' iyswim.
They do seem to be a gimmick for the rest of us but I wouldn't class them as totally pointless.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have both the Dettol and Simplehuman automatic soap dispensers. One great thing is that as I have a small bathroom, I found that the glass shelf I kept my hand soap on started to work loose from the pressure of the soap being pumped, this touch free system stops that becoming an issue. Also the Simplehuman one holds quite a bit of soap. While pricey at £20 I use Tesco Value antibacterial hand soap which is 68p for 500ml V the Dettol one of £2.99 for 250ml.
When it comes to the dettol one I bought the grapefruit refil so that the colours matched the soap and then pry the top off with a knife and refil with Vale soap.
I would have no hesitations in buying another Simplehuman one once the Dettol one wears out. The Simplehuman one looks much nicer and you can control the amount of soap dispensed. The Simplehuman one also has a 20 second light timer to encourage children to wash their hands for longer than they may ordinarily do.0 -
and isn't it very handy that, in the advert, the tap is already on??0

I saw this advertised for a similar price recently in Boots. I didn't buy, as although I believe in good personal hygiene, think a few germs are good for your immune system.0

yes for people with arthritis it would be useful as ben mentioned, but for the rest of us its not much use0 -
Might be useful in mucky environments so you don't get oil and the like all ove the place - but then you'd need automatic water taps as well.0

This was mentioned in Richard & Judy's "column" in the Express today, much the same comments!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Have made a hole in the top of the dettol dispenser to add soap. Works well in the shower and stops the kids pouring soap down the drain. Would like a simplehuman but seems to cost £300

Also, you have to touch the tap to turn it on before and after you wash your hands, thus contaminating yourself again! Havent quite gotten around to installing those ones that sense when your hands are there and turn on automaticallyI smile because I have no idea what is going on0 -
I know a few neurotic mothers that would probably love one of these....0
