  • Oh wow - that swimming cake is AMAZING - how did you do the water effect? My fondant/sugarpaste/icing (whatever you want to call it) always has a matt effect asthe icing sugar I use to keep it from sticking always sticks on there and I've tried everything to make it look properly finished but am struggling - is there some secret out there that I'm not aware of? :)
  • Fab cake Zippy, well done!

  • My first attempt at chocolate fudge cake for my birthday meal last night. A basic chocolate cake covered in chocolate fudge buttercream with a caramel frosting layer in the centre. Our local restaurant has wonderful food but no dessert menu, however luckily they're nice enough to let you bring your own! So it's less of a birthday cake & more of a pudding; seemed to go down well though, no empty plates :)

    Hi,

for the 'water' I made icing, using a box of 'Silverspoon fondant icing sugar' it's in a green and white box, this one: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=259245722 I prefer this to the Silverspoon icing you get in a pink and white box, as it sets a little bit firmer and looks more glossy. Obiously I used a good glug of blue food colouring too
    Morrisons and Tesco sell it

    Zippy
