Bindi, what nozzle did you use for the multi-coloured ones? Is there a specific technique or do you just do it like a normal swirl?

its a 2d, my latest purchase. pipe a little in the middle then go around what you have piped in the middle. if you check out you tube im sure you will find a video for swirl roses to give you any idea.

For anyone that is thinking of buying the Hummingbird Bakery Books, I made the mistake of buying all three from Amazon (cheaper than Ebay). The smallest and cheapest one "cupcakes and muffins" all the recipes from this book is included in The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook...so you only need two. Nevermind, my daughter now has part of an early birthday present for her mother in law.

right, all tooled up now ready to make mums birthday cake this week. got a set of new tins, one 8", one 10" and one 12", all are about 4-5" deep. I just need a good madeira cake recipe for the bottom tier to hold the other 2 tiers, then I think I'm going to make a chocolate one for the middle and lemon for the top. Is this a good idea?

All ideas and suggestions welcome as this is the first 3 tier cake I have made and need all the help I can get!! I have bought dowels for the tiers and have all I need to decorate it. Thanks everyone in advance x :o

I just bought some patchwork alphabet cutters off eBay. It took a while to get the hang of it, cos I didn't roll the Mex paste out thin enough. There's a recipe for Mexican paste in with the cutters, although I used tylo powder, not gum trag (cos I'm not a millionaire). It works a treat. I really look forward to using them.

I made banana caramel cupcakes for a picnic I went to today. I used this recipe http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=44316116&postcount=145 but I used four bananas, blitzed with my hand blender to get them really smooth. I cream the sugar and butter first, then add the bananas and all the other wet ingredients, then the add the dry.

For the buttercream I did a standard vanilla buttercream, then swirled Starbucks caramel drizzle (just used that one as I had it in the cupboard) through it before piping it. I topped them with an organic banana chip each and they looked and tasted fab.

Thank you - I will be giving this a try this week. The recipe I used to other day had no butter or marg in it, so I think that might be why it stuck to the wrappers.

I am attempting to make a liverpool football cake for OH in a weeks time, half football with a scarf round the sides. Im wondering the best way to do the Liverpool Emblem, want it to be full home made but will resort to small cake topper from Ebay....what way would you say was easiest to do, Icing, piping...etc... TIA!
