I cut my icing into strips the same width as the letters. just press the relevant letter into the fondant (holding the edge parts (not the plunger bit), wiggle a little lift it up and press the plunger gently....it should just drop out. the thinner you roll it the less indents you get from the plunger part. You kow you have rolled it to thick when you start getting indents.
once you think your fondant is thin enough...roll it even more to make sureLOL xx
Thanks :T will have to have a practise thought I had rolled it enought it was like a wafer. Hopefully this time wont feel like throwing them through the window or jumping up and down on them:rotfl:0 -

I had a go at making cake pops over the weekend and melted the candy melts over some water but the melts just didnt melt properly the mixture was really thick and so it wouldnt coat the cake properly. Any suggestions as to why this might of happened. Do you melt yours in the microwave or over water.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Minimacka!
I tried making cakepops using candy melts first and like you, the mixture was really thick, I did some research and some people say pop a bit of vegetable oil in the mixture to thinnen it out, and I tried it and it worked! (And it didnt make the mixture tatse like oily)..

Maybe you got some water in your candy melts. I melt mine in the microwave. 20-30 second blasts, give it a stir, and carry on til nice and melted. If it goes thick, just melt it again.0 -

I melt mine in a bowl standing in a pan of hot water and it is ok did try it in the micro but burned it (smelt nice though of toffee) so went back to the water method and have even re melt it this way and it was ok. Was the water boiling hot I no if I let the water cool it doesnt melt as good.0 -

im working on a wedding cake today, 4 tiers and im already fed up with it ha ha....the bottom tier is slightly higher at one side than the other (out of my control as i buy the fruit cakes in...cheaper!) which means and cakes you put on top of that are going to be wonky looking, no matter how straight the dowels! LOL... o well theres nothing i can do now but carry on
Thats interesting to hear that you buy them in, I am doing my first wedding cake next june, I need plenty of practice before hand! She wants one tier to be fruit, would it be worth buying in one from a supermarket uniced for this rather than making it.Debt free wannabe

cookiedough, I recently did a wedding cake and they wanted the top tier to be fruit, I bought it from M&S as I couldnt be doing with the hassle of making a fruit cake!Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150
