AnnieH.....can you tell me do you cook the cake mixture inside the ice cream cornets and if you do....do you fill them up very far.? Thanks
Hi, yes I cooked the mixture in the cornets. I filled them up about 3/4 full, but this was too high. So I would say fill them 2/3rds full. The stiff buttercream is a Wilton recipe and really helped keep the definition of the whippy effect.

Thanks for the lovely comments! I didnt pipe any lettering - i cheated!! The castle cake lettering is acutally fondant, rolled in to thin sausages. The letters I only got recently from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alphabet-birthday-cookie-cutter-mould-sugar-craft-press-/150604695508?pt=UK_Kitchen_Accessories&hash=item2310bd47d40

Lovely cakes everyone!
I am considering starting to make cakes, maily because I have just had a baby and would love to be able to make her birthday cakes! The baking part in fine and I am looking at starting a decorating course in September but can anyone suggest any good websites/books to learn from? Also, the icing on all your cakes looks really smooth, whenever I have tried in the past the icing goes into the dips in the cake - how do you make yours smooth please? One fine day I will be slim and debt free!!0 -

Do they taste ok with the cornet & cake? Did you use a massive nozzle?

that would depend on how much you charge for your cake pops and how big you make them
most people i know sell them for £1.50 for a plain ball and £2+ for something like the hello kitty ones - sizewise they are similar to a ferrero rocher, so 1-2 bites
production costs around 30p per pop, thats for ingredients, stick and wrapper, but excluding man hours - most people work on min 3x production costs for retail price

I didn't get to taste any, but they went so fast, so I assume they were nice
I used a Wilton M1 (1M?) nozzle, which is pretty huge.0
