As I've said before I'm not much of a cook and the upcoming christening is making me slightly nervous...so any snippets of help I can pick up here is great. Would not mind trying the mars bar cupcakes....is there just a small piece of mars bars in the centre of the cake mixture in each cupcake ? I hope this is n't a stupid question....but do you fold your flour in or use your food mixer ?
I've bought 2 lovely cupcake stands that hold 41 each so hoping these will show them off. With having three small grandsons now there are going to be plenty of parties to practise my baking !

9 pineapple rings between 12 cupcakes.... seems a lot, they must have a lot of pineapple in each one. Would not mind having a go at making these for the christening on Sunday.

thats 3/4 ring per cake, which isnt that much when chopped up - think of it in similar terms to choc chips, how many would you put in each cupcake normally chunkwise?

food mixer for everything. i dont have time to do anything by hand nowadays :p

if in a real hurry, i just bung everything in at once - still tastes the same just doesnt rise quite so much (only i notice this though, as its a few mm at most)

also ive gone over to the american way of baking and use cups/sticks and wet fat - its so much quicker than the usual variations on victoria sponge mix us brits use

I made this coconut and lime cake last weekend in a loaf tin and it was lovely, all the family enjoyed it ....takes about 1 hour to bake. Just wondering if it would turn out okay doing it in cupcakes and if it would take longer than normal cupcakes to cook.

I find that a pack of candy melts covers just about 24 cake pops, so if you only buy one pack, you may be cutting it a bit fine. Should be ok though, but there'll be no margin for error. HTH x

Thank you. I'll buy 2 packs just in case ;) Just hope they have the right colour now :)

I have to admit I have cheated with the frosting (as I am quite hopeless at making it myself at the moment, this is something I need to concentrate on) but it is from Morrisons, its there own make frosting, comes in strawberry, chocolate and vanilla and its £1.69 a tub. Each tub did about 18/19 cupcakes so worth the money really. I'll take a photo of the empty tub and put it up later so you can see what it looks like.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments, I've still got a stupid grin on my face!! LOL :)

I tried Morrisons frosting today but didnt like it. Ended up scraping it off the cupcakes I made and made home made buttercream and re did them. I thought the Morrisons frosting was quite tangy, shame really, could have done with a standby.:p

  • Hi ladies and gentlemen. I’ve been a lurker in this thread for quite some time and I finally finished the end of the thread. Whew! I really admire lots of cakes made by some very clever people here! I started baking and cake decorating this February coz I wanted to make my baby’s 1st birthday cake and since then I fell in love with this hobby but TBH mine are crap compared to your cakes.

I am about to make a Guinness pint cake for a cousin’s birthday next week, I’m wondering if someone made one, or something similar before? If yes, could somebody give me any tips and suggestions on designing it, it would be very much appreciated. I know it’s a bit ambitious for a newbie like me but I’m keen on doing that for him. Thank you very much in advance. J

I will be most grateful for any replies, and keep up the good work its amazing!

Please excuse the intrusion but I am desperate to find out where you got the alphabet cutters for the cake nuttymummy that you made. I would be most grateful if you could let me know….. that cake was simply awesome!

    Kind Regards. xxx
