Hi Yummymumycupcake
What sort of shape are you looking for do you want a flat cake or one shaped like a actual glass. If you want a flat one I would bake a large rectanlgle cake and maybe carve the shape however the only other idea would be to bake it in a pint glass but dont know if it would crack. I would probably cover in black fondant and ivory for the foam and myabe handpaint the words and symbol
There are lots of recipes for chocolate guiness cake online

Hi Brandy
I bought a set of nozzles simular to this off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/24-Icing-nozzles-Cake-Pastry-Decorating-Piping-W-Box-/220786111840?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item3367e0b560
It has all the basics petals, stars, writing and a grass/hair nozzle. i recommend using disposable bags as it so much easier. Sainsburys sell packs of 10 for about £2.29ish and so do Lakeland at about £5.99 for a larger quantity.
I recently bought a 1m wilton nozzle which was £5 and its great for doing roses, swirls and Mr whippy type swirls.
If you have a txmaxx near by check out the kitchen section as they often have sets of nozzles and cutters.

OI know a lot of people here post on the making money from cakes thread too - I had a great little find today in homebargains ( not sure if anyone has posted this) but they had 5inch round cakes tins, they wre in a section with kids aprons etc, but they are a perfect size for smaller cakes, for one, or smash cakes to acompany a babies main cake, or mini xmas cakes, and only 89p each i picked up 4, they also had the buckle on the side to help once baked to get the cake out, very sturdy too.0

yummy mum, its a tappit set called 'funky'.....if youve never used a tappit set before i suggest you do lots of research on them first....some people hate them...and cry PMSL, and some people love them...like me! when i first bought them i would fling them across the kitchen! to new users they can be very hard to use, but if you keep at it you soon get the hang of it
xx good luck x

Hi
Like Bindi I also have a set which is 52 peice they are good and you get a range of nozzles. I also use Lakeland disposable bags they are big and strong and have even washed them out and reused them. I chose the disposable after reading threads where people have nylon ones and they split.
For the leaves and flowers etc you can buy cutters there are loads on ebay if you tyoe in sugarcraft leaf cutters you wil get a wide range. Hobby craft also do cutters but are quite expensive

they seem to have used 3 x 8" sponges stacked and then carved, but the shape isnt exactly right for me (prob because a proper guinness glass has a narrow waist and bottom)
this one is a bit more realistic shapewise

but this one has a better head

depending on your cake skills, it might be easier to make a can of guinness, as that would just be stacked cakes, with a rim around the top
