Some marvelous cakes on here....look so professional. I just hope my cupcakes turn out even half as good as these on here for my grandsons christening in two weeks time. Just wanting a bit of advice, I will be making lots of cupcakes and icing them the day before the Christening and I am wondering how I should store these....do I have to go out and buy loads of plastic kitchen storage boxes as I'll be only able to put one layer of cakes in each ...just don't want them to dry out.

I find making them the night before better as the buttercream firms up to touch. I usually pick up shallow cardboard trays from pop cans from work (i work in wilkos) so that the cupcakes are single layers then cover with a bit of clingfilm or even some greaseproof, whatever I have to hand. I picked up some great little trays from when we were selling smarties egg heads at easter, they were perfect as cupcake holders as the cupcake fitted the indents .

Other than that I have 2 shallow plastic storage boxes which the cupcakes go in single layers. I havent found that the cupcakes dry out or anything and sometimes keep them in the fridge in the storage boxes

Not a homemade cake, Costco, but I did the decorations. This cake was for my MIL 90th birthday party today. 90% are living, all are family by birth or marriage. A great party for a wonderful woman, she raised her family in such a way that I fell in love with my husband straight away.

I am posting this for my 15 year old daughter, I introduced her to yoru thread the other day, as I am a keen baker, and she has follwed in my foot steps in that respect, but I can not decorate for toffee ha ha, her dream is to have her own business making and selling cakes, I bought her the introduction to sugarcraft book and she made her own Creme Au Buerre today - and made these fab cup cakes,

She has such a passion for this , and i dont want her to give up on this, I keep reminding her it takes time, and effort , and that everyone has to start somewhere.

I am going to get her to make a profile on here so she can post here for encouragment, and hopefully be able to share info and tips eventually :)
