Does anyone know if I can make a cake with maltesers? Not a fridge cake with them all mushed up - I was thinking something like chocolate chip muffins but with maltesers in place of the choc chips. Would the maltesers just disintegrate?
I don't know why I suddenly have a yen for cake with maltesers in it! Really impressed by some of the cakes here, it's a whole different food group from the stuff I make, impressive and inspiring :T
Malteasers may go a little melty, but a good substitution is ovaltine! There is a very good recipe in the Primrose Hill Bakery book for these, I have made them before and the marshmallow topping is soooooo delicious! I will get the recipe and post later for you6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....

Can you tell me how you made the Cake Pops? I have a rough idea from reading things on the net, but just wondered how you made yours? and are they just dipped into normal melted chocolate?

jlp - That's great!!! I'm hoping to make a pinata cake for my little girls birthday in May - how easy was it to get the chocolate domw out of the mold??
zippybungle - Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :T
My new filling nozzle (#230) and large M1 swirl nozzle arrived last week :j so I made Vanilla & Nutella Polka Dot Glitter-Dust Cupcakes for my sons birthday party tea.
Filling the cupcakes with nutella was far easier than I though it would be, took a few minutes to do the whole batch!! Looked rather impressive when they were cut in halt to reveal the chocolate centres
They were yummy!_____________________________________________party_ Handmade Christmas and Occassions 2011 _party_OS Moneysaving as much as I canGonna live 'The Good Life' - grow my own and 4 hens

Candy melts are best for making cake pops - it melts to the right consistency and is workable for longer than regular chocolate.... plus it doesn't melt when you handle the pops like chocolate does. Also you get get a wide variety of colours and flavours.
I use the info on Bakerella, same as Esmer recommended, it's a great site, with loads of fabby ideas for decorating
Hobbycraft sell them for £2.99 a bag both in store, and online.

if you want the malteser taste though, Nigella makes a cake that has horlicks and chocolate in it, so you get a malty chocolate flavour, without the crunch

Thanks both! I don't know whether a flavoured cake would meet the craving - but I'll try anything onceI might go for a normal chocolate sponge & just use the maltesers for decoration.

Of course! I got them from Mums Who Bake - there's lots of lovely stuff in their online store, although if you use the menu on the left to search thru categories you miss loads of stuff.... I found searching using a keyword is better
I ordered a pack with several items as it was better value: http://www.mumswhobake.co.uk/shop/product.php?id_product=284
but they do sell them individually too.

Hi guys i am back again for advice (was last here when making my DD's 4th birthday cake, pics no.713.) i want to make a cake for my DS this time for his 2nd birthday and here is the hard part he is having a Mr Tumble theme party and i can't find anywhere that sells a cake topper? I've looked on Ebay and nothing. Has anyone made a Mr Tumble cake? Or maybe advise me on how to make the model? For anyone whos not sure who Mr Tumble is, he is a Cbeebies children character on programmes such as 'Something Special'. Here are some pics i've found but it seems so hard... http://www.google.co.uk/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=mr+tumble+cake+pic&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8w2BTfSNEJGEhQerjNGiBw&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=680 Any advise or tips please!0
