Am I getting 600hz display on my tv

alienRIK is speaking the truth here and there are plenty of people who are falling for marketing guff.
Contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest white and the darkest black that a screen can display. Let's say 1:1000 means that the black is 1 brightness and white is 1,000 times brighter. As he says though, there's no standardised way for the manufacturers to measure it, so they don't mean much. Dynamic contrast ratio might sound better but it's an even bigger marketing lie, it allows for the brightest white to be measured at a different time from the darkest black, and is much more meaningless.
And 1080i is upscaled 720p? What on earth makes you think that?!0 -

Sounds like a good solution to me. My tv has 100hz interpolation to try and fix the 'scrolling images blur' issue and you get artefacts such as footballs having saturn rings either side when moving fast etc.

I always liked the idea of Samsung's strobing backlight which seems similar to this 600hz idea - ie artifically flicker the display to trick the brain into thinking movement is perfectly smooth.0 -

As has been explained quite a few times on this thread, 600Hz doesnt actually refresh the display 600 times per second. Its BS:idea:0 -

Your saying its technically impossible? Ever?:idea:0 -

Your talking about an actual new refresh from the source.
It seems were not talking the same thing. Im saying it doesnt even INTERPOLATE at 600Hz:idea:0 -

Very good article that, I found the response time section quite interesting on how real values differ from the marketing guff. Next time anyone bangs on about contrast ratios, or motion flow, I'll print that off and smack them round the head with it.0 -

People may assume that it refers to the refresh rate, but you can't say it's a con because people choose to assume rather than ask what it means.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

Perhaps as this threads main topic is 600Hz, you could explain exactly what this 600hz subfield is all about? (That link you provided tells us absolutely nothing really, save that it actually runs at 60Hz):idea:0
