It took me ages to post this reply - page loading is just far too slow!
I'm off because I come on here in between doing other stuff on the pc and I just don't have time to sit around waiting for the page to load. I'll check back later to see if it has been fixed.
Oh and why are the smileys to the right of the reply box go off the edge of the page? Or is it just my pc?

Very, very slow and somehow too bright and spaced out.
I'll try it but I can see myself going back to the boxes of old layout.
I also like to see my thanked posts and know who has thanked me. It's often the quickest way to continue a discussion.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I quite like some of the changes implemented into the new format
however for me there are more negatives than positives
1) Colours are far to bright and if viewed for any length of time would cause considerable eye strain to most MSE'rs (bright green colours have been tried before and rejected by MSe'rs) so I cannot understand why they have been implemented again
2) Text and buttons are far too large which makes it slow to scroll down and view large threads this is mainly due to the thread stats panel being to big
3) When searching there is some text degradation in the right hand side text "showing results" and there is also some display problems when using advanced edit with the large boxes on the right hand side overlapping the smilies using Firefox 3.63
4) Forums are very slow and at present are virtually unusable due to the speed degradation
5) The bright green columns in "Last Post" and "Views" on all of the pages make it harder to concentrate on the different threads, I much prefer the old plain white across the different threads
Positives
1) I quite like the new Stats Panel
2) The text appearing further up the page is a good thing although the effect is quite negated at present because the text and buttons are to large
I for one will be switching back to the old format A.S.A.P and if the new changes are implemented permanently without the option of switching back to the old format I will be permanently moving away from MSE
I do appreciate all of the time and effort that you have put into the new formats  but I'm afraid that there not for me
[STRIKE]however as usual all of the new changes appear to have been thrust upon MSE'rs without consultation,
me thinks that it might have been best to have consulted senior forum users before implementing the new changes[/STRIKE]

I don't like change. I'm just about getting to grips with decimalisation.0

Agree with all the 'slow' comments.
I suppose you'll never put a halt to the frothings of the it-ain't-broke-so-I'll-fix-it brigade.
Is there really a button to click to go back to the old format? Somebody please point me at it...0 -
Have now managed to switch back to the old style (ta!) and the speed is only marginally better, so that must be a wider issue than just the new interface.
On the other hand, and this will be easier to assess once the speed is improved, but the old interface is definitely easier on my eyes. The half hour I spent with the new interface was definitely making me go a bit cross-eyed and headachey, and I work with computer interfaces and web based systems for a living! I think it's the particular shade of green in the new interface, it's just a too bright and yellowy to be restful on the human eye, particularly comparision with the old shade, and it covers a *lot* more screen area than in the previous interface. Might it be worth trying the shade of green usedon Version1 in V2, see if it helps?
I'll post up any comments on the new features once the response times improve enough to make testing worthwhile.

If I may say, I can't understand why the decision to re-skin 3.8.4 took preference over upgrading to 4.x.0
