i have been on here on and off all day and i love the new screens... bright - fresh - easy to read, without glasses, and nice clear colour contrasts

it was Very slow this morning, we had a bit of a whinge, it got tons better and we are now advised that all you post 9-5ers who are coming on for the first time will slow it up temporarily

    give it a chance

by 4pm today it was almost back to its old speed

An Umpteenth - waaaaaay slow I'm afraid...
Oh and I'm not sure I'm keen on the colour - like the brightness though! :)

Those of us whose browsers clear the cache whenever we close them will have to download the images every time we come to the site - so I hope the images aren't huge KB sizes. The forum is too slow to use like this - over 30 seconds to load a page - it's as if it's being ddos'd.

The new layout - well it looked "spacious", but the emphasis was taken away from forum and thread titles. The bright coloured buttons are horrendous - look totally out of place - very juvenile looking and don't match the general muted green/white scheme.

Change is good, but only when it's an improvement. I'll try it (new look) again after/if the speed goes back to normal. The old look pages don't load any faster, but at least they're not so irritating to look at :)

Caching also happens server side, as in at MSE's servers, not just user side, as in your PC, not sure how vBullitin does it, but other forums suffer a slow down while the server side cache refreshes after a change, so i see no reason here would be differant

OMG, if the current speed is a vast improvement I'm glad I wasn't trying to comp earlier
As I work, I need to catch up in the evenings, but even hitting the back button is taking up a minute to complete.
No, it's not my lappy. All other sites are fine.
Over 20 seconds for "Go advanced" to get this smiley:eek:!
Have tried reverting to the old display with no difference :(
Chatting with friends on facebook, all are having the same problem :(.
Please, please, please can speed be sorted as a matter of priority?
    Thanks :A

P.S all that time we had a "Remove thanks" button, I never felt the need to use it, now it's gone, however... :rotfl:

I think the team has disabled them for a bit to reduce load, it would make sense too

As i put in the previous topics on this, i think the old style is better.

The main reason is for consistency. The old forum looked like other forums so felt familiar. Now it is different, it makes it unusual.

Word 2003 to Word 2007 was less of an issue as for one it was only 2 different views, but importantly it was solid move, people who use word generally just use word. There is only 1 word processor to use. MSE having a unique look and feel means people have to learn this forum and the others, the others of which all have a similar style.

Also it is still very slow.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

A thought just occurred to me. Removing avatars speeds up the site (less to load), so maybe they're working on the speed thing. We'll have our avvies again soon. :A
