They should just keep borrowing more and more to keep it all going until it really collapses. At least it's sunny in Greece.

Perhaps they should bung a few mil over to Greece to help out - just to keep the Greek jobs :)

Some things never change, it's just like the last time we had a Tory government..

    HIPS scrapped

The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) estimates that there are between 3,000 and 10,000 people whose livelihoods are either directly or indirectly dependent on Hips.

Are they real jobs? Are they providing a valuable public service? Are they generating income for the nation?

    I'd say no.

And PS, it's a coalition government, not a Tory one.

you'd better get used to it - there will be more jobs to go in the public sector , gordon commited the country to pay for things that we don't need and can't afford ,

you are right on one thing - it is just like the last time we had a tory govt - they again have to sort out the mess that "prudent" gordon brown has left

All labour governments end with the nation in financial ruin because sooner or later, labour run out of other people's money.

Then the tories have to come along and administer the medicine and are of course the bad guys. again.

HIPpers were as much a drag on productive society as 'lifestyle choice' dolites. A tax on those who work, paying for jobs created by Clown, producing bits of paper no-one wanted.

What a stupid article, the searches for example were duplicated because the buyer had their own done anyway, as for one reason or another they could not trust the HIP search, e.g. out of date. In addition most of the training done buy inspectors was for the energy certificate and that remains, in fact they will probably now charge more for that. Just another VI press release.

The burden of paying about £200 for searches from local authorities and search companies will now fall on house buyers, which could add to costs for first-time buyers.

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the really nasty sensation of deja-vu?
