Whoa, hold on there, I hope they're paying you the fee still? Did you take photos of the closed "shops"? I'd be wanting AT LEAST 50% fee, whicyh is what I've had on a couple of local-ish ones that were closed, it's not happened to me yet but if it had happened one one of my circuits that were 200+ miles away, I'd be wanting more than 50% fee!

I have asked for compensation but have yet to hear.

While we're on the subject of bumbling idiots... I still havn't been paid for a hotel visit I did 7 weeks ago for them. Chased it up Friday, but still waiting for them to get back to me. That wasn't exactly small change.

So no compensation offered an extra 10 euros if i would go back down and do it again. LOl to cover my petrol (over 100 miles) yeah dont think so

If you even went to the trouble of calling the garages beforehand to make sure they were open then I think you have an excellent case for being paid. I would email them back and point out that you rang first and did everything possible to ensure you would not have a wasted trip. Point out to them just how many miles you did and ask for at least a 50% fee for your trouble. It's not like you were in the area anyway. I don't think you should just let this go.
