Some 'single' parents are going to be very well off indeed if they have their partner AND a natural father paying for their children!

I repeat, I also would not want to pay for someone else's children, but I would accept that if I moved into their family then I would have to. I think it is unrealistic for the OP to expect any money he puts into the household to not include them.

I also think that if he does not want to accept them as part of the family he is moving into, then he should not be moving in.

Under the circumstances, I do not think he should disturb the status quo.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

So you think it's right that i move in pay her mortgage and all her bills. She can dump me at anytime and i get nothing? Or don't have a safety net?

Man up soft lad, or better still, move back in with your mum.

Then they wouldn't be single parents, would they?

That is why I wrote it as 'single' - meaning they are no longer with the childrens' other parent.

Firstly, for the record, I am a married woman with a child!
Ok, moving on, I do understand where the OP is coming from, if it is perhaps a naive view in some ways. Why do people have to jump on him though with their opinions- not advice!
Re the finances, you do have to check with HMRC, entitledto.co.uk, Citizens Advice or somewhere like that. You may find you are still entitled 'as a couple' to some tax credits, she will still get her child benefit, and you will have an extra income coming in to the house.
Perhaps a rent agreement might be an idea, or some sort of legal agreement anyway, so at least you feel a bit more secure (in that you cannot be chucked out with no notice) ?
I do agree that you will likely have to contribute a little of your income to the family/kids, but ultimately their own dad should also be doing this!
