it is 13 outside and 19 inside, with no heating on. I can`t see me putting the ch on until november because I think my body has acclimatised to being cooler :j

I am actually doing better than the last two years. This will be my third winter in Britain. Last winter was hard - up in Scotland it gets pretty cold and I kept putting the heat on. I am feeling a lot better about things, this year. I do have an electric space heater that I will sometimes sit in front of, but never for more than 30 minutes or so, if I come in after being out in the cold and rain and feel a bit chilled.

We do have the heat on at night, but I don't know how long we'll hold out before putting in on during the day.

  • not had the heating on yet. Does get quite cold at night but ive got my hot water bottles and snuggly blankets...determined its not going on till nov, preferably not at all would be good also.

I need to get moving on the bubblewrap for the back of the house, it faces north and is baltic. The two wee budgies in the back room were like bright coloured tennis balls with feet today. Poor wee sods.
  • As a poor student living in a massive house im not going to be turning the heating on all winter! Its horrendous and some days I just don't get out of bed because its so cold, but i've got 3 jumpers and a fluffy dressing gown ready! I look like the michellin man but who cares it keeps me warm. It gets so cold in this house I can see my breath!

Anyone else joining me in the bid to keep the heating off until 1st November??

    I will succeed, I WILL.

Count me in too. My husband lost his job in July due to the credit crunch. His new job is a heck of a lot less paid and I really can't afford to be paying sky high fuel bills. It looks like it might get a bit cooler Friday night (seen bbc weather) think I'm gonna hunt out the hot water bottles! ;)
  • Thanks just tried that and it worked (been lurking for a while)

It was cold ,wet and windy here today and I kept busy doing anything just to keep warm, and you know what I did.Just goes to show.
I'm just not putting my heating on until I'm desperate,November 1st is my next goal and then I'll take it from there.
