Function Button: This is really wierd because there's one on my laptop but I've just looked on our desktop computer keyboard and can't find one there. Are those of you who can't find the Function (Fn) key using desktops ??
It seems strange it would be on laptops but not on desktop keyboards so I can't figure this one out at the moment.
I couldn't find the fn key on our desktop but have just checked DH's laptop and it has one. Must just be on laptops then???:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -
I have it on this laptop too, and the F4 key has a zzz snooze symbol on it, thanks. Still too scared to touch it in case it wont wake up again !0

Steel beams can be drilled through - they're not generally very thick but you'll need an HSS drill bit and a particular type of wall plug to put them into. Unfortunately my beam was bent when put in, so they levelled it with plaster and at one end it's fine, but the other the beam has 2" of plaster. I can't really have blinds on it (I have, but they too fall down if the clip comes undone) so I feel your pain...Tim0 -
Martha - the FUNCTION (marked Fn) on my keyboard is the far left button on the bottom row of keys. The F4 key on my keyboard is the fourth from the left on the top row of keys. On mine it has s little "moon" symbol to denote nighttime/sleep/hibernate.
thanks primrose - I'd never noticed those little symbols before! on our laptop the moon is on the escape button, tried it and it worked (I know i shouldn't sound so surprised - more down to my IT skills than your advise)weaving through the chaos...0 -

anyone know where i can get a victorian style ceiling airer for a good price?
You could try checking out the car boot sales, or ask on freecycle. You only need the ends, you can put your own slats in and I think you can buy the actual pulley wheels in b&q or places like that.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
I spent years in dingy flats wishing I could dump the pulleys (victorian clothes airers to you yuppies LOL) I hated them dangling wet washing over my head , and all the clothes smelled of whatever you had been cooking. Now they're back in fashion & everybody wants one. I feel OLD !0

I dry my clothes when the weather is bad in a small room with a small dehumidifier which is 70 watts. Things dry quickly and it gives out a little warmth as a bonus, for the price of a light bulb. I know this is using electricity, but it does the job quickly and cheaply when I can't air dry, and is much better for us so far north than encouraging mould by the wet clothes air drying.
(It's a Premi-aire Midi Dehumidifier)0
