  • Also try washing inside the rubber door seal, that can get quite gunkey.
  • It usually happens as gunk from the washingmachine from clothes and the odd tissue sticks to the U bend and that mixed with water gives the stale manky smell.

The only real way to remove it is to take apart the drainage pipes scrub with a bottle brush and put back together. Its not a difficult job providing some cowboy plumber hasnt used mastic to seal the joints. If your pipes are chemically welded together then you cant do this unless you want to chop them off and re fit with screw together piping.

Or, often shoving a pressure washer down the waste the washing machine uses with shift the gunk.
  • we also had 'the smell' and couldnt get rid off it by cleaning. Then the machine leaked out everywhere and the plumber came to find that there was a blockage and he cleared out loads of gunk inc money and lots of bits of foull smelling rag. It did the job as it never smelt again (so far-lol).

I run mine empty once a month on the hottest (95) setting, to clear the tubes & bits out. Try that.
If that doesn't work, try it again with something that cleans & smells nice (but doesn't foam too much:eek: )

    Hi

Try doing a boil wash with either white vinegar or soda crystals in and an empty machine. There are some threads on it but I'm no good at finding them but I'm sure someone will for you.

    Hi there,
pour some vinegar in the draw - run empty on a hot/boil wash and then run through once more to make sure the vinegar smell has gone...you can always throw in dusters, tea towels etc if you dont want to run it empty again..and this should get rid of the problem...i do this once a month to stop it happening...regards help...oh and yes, just bog standard brown vinegar is fine :-)
