Yes, that's something I have done since getting the new machine earlier this year. I never close it tight unless it's on a cycle.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Have you cleaned out the drawer where you put the washing powder/fabric softener in? It can get mouldy!0

I had to give up using 30 degree washes as my machine was smelling really badly - even doing a hot wash occasionally with vinegar didnt shift it - I have been back on my 40 degree washes for a couple of months now and the smell has gone completely...Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0

Right - vinegar going round wash now. Have cleaned the drawer and told family to leave the door open. Will update soon - thanks again everyone!:jNov 2012 - Loan £1200, CC1 £1450

Not sure if it needs an acid or an alkaline solution, Maybe one of each?
DO NOT ignore the smell, I did and the machine broke not long ago. On the rear of the drum
there is are 3 arms attached to the drum and rear bearing. The arms had corroded and snapped.
The arm was badly corroded and covered in a powdery residue. Probably the result of washing at 30 degrees
too often.
Give it a couple of boil washes at least one a month. Putting a cheap white vinegar or some sodium bicarbonate
in maybe? Only one though dont mix them in the machine or you will need a new one even sooner. lol.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I need some help, in finding something that I can put in my washing machine ,as there is a nasty stink comes from it, so clothes dont smell Fresh. Now ive tried using a 90 degree cycle with nothing in the machine and its still not helped ive tried opening the door after a wash, any idea's The washing machines only 6 months old.Don't sweat the small stuff, Its all small stuff.0

Have you tried cleaning out the seal? Mine has a really deep fold that catches a load of gunk and smells awful after a few months. Rubber gloves and paper towel time!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

There's a few possible causes. Main two I can think of because I've encountered them before are:
Do you use fabric softener? Every time someone puts that in the washing machine it ends up slimy, growing mould and smelling like a bin that needs emptying. Bad stuff, it's basically oil of some type that's designed to deposit on stuff, we avoid it now and have a much fresher washing machine and washing.
Have you cleaned out the trap yet? If it's full of crud you'll have a load of old water sitting in the machine between uses.0
