Good advice except running at 90 degrees with bio powder is pointless as the enzymes will denature.Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0

Are you sure it;s the drum and not the seal? I always leave my door open to allow the seal to dry and the drum to air.

I had this problem and I put a good glug of vinegar in the drawer and put it on the highest wash I could (think it was 60, it definately wasn't 90) and for the longest cycle and it's been a good 2/3 weeks now and the smells completely gone
I was a bit worried because my machine was only 3months old :O but the vinegar seems to have sorted it outCredit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

Have the same symptom on an 18 month old hotpoint machine.
I have tried specialist washing machine cleaners, vinegar, a weak bleach solution and a very hot wash just with soap.
Same thing smell went away for a bit then came back - I wondered if a sock or similar had somehow got stuck between inner cylinder and outer drum going off between washes, but it gets used every other day as a minimum.
It is by the back door and was sticking out a bit further than usual meaning the washer door was been kept closed more often than not. Pushed it back in and I can now leave it ajar and in this warm weather even leave it open a bit wider in the draft. This seems to have reduced it loads.
A friend of mine brought a new one for the same reason. He found a valve type arrangement, in the old one, like a ball in a pipe, that basically sealed the outlet if water wasn't leaving but this was gummed up allowing foul smells back in.
Whatever the reason leaving the door ajar has certainly made a big difference.:)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Hi

There's a possible problem inside your machine which a repair man could find.
Have you got a cloth and ran it around the inside of the creases in the door seal to see if there are any lint/mould bits in there?
Find the manual online and see if there's a section on how to service it. On our very old machine there was a small door on the bottom right that you could open, twist off a cap and remove a load of gunk and lint and some stale water.0 -

My machine is 3 years old and I need to open the drain at the front from time to time to get rid of stagnent water - I know it needs done when washing comes out and seems to dry with a damp smell:eek:0 -
Also - if you're using liquid rather than bio powder this will leave you with a stinky machine. I found that even doing a hot wash with soda crystals and/or bleach didn't help, nor did draining the water in the bottom of the machine.
There is bleach in powder which is not in the liquid, and that helps to clean the machine.
Since going back to powder my machine has stopped smelling.0 -

Have doen a few more washes since so keeping my fingers croosed. Will definately do this once a month to keep on top of it though:o:p0
