I've borrowed a dehumidifier and it is sucking out loads of water, I think it may be stagnanting in the pipes? The 90 degree wash didn't make any difference to mine.
Let's see if it smells sweeter soon.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Clothes still dirty after washing indicates the outlet pipe is kinked or blocked or the pump has packed up- it's making all the right noises but the waste water isn't getting away. Unclip the pump filter lid and clear out the old pennies and buttons. Lower the outlet pipe to a bowl on the floor and see what comes out. If it's grey smelly water, full of lint and gunge, I'm right.
If you use washing powder- as against liquids/gels in the tub, the dispenser drawer gets blocked with old powder residue, and it pongs. Needs clearing regularly.
and bra wires!:D
yes we've noticed it's started to be smelly lately and it's since i switched to that new persil liquid small and mighty non bio, ironic cos i switched to that cos it smells nicer on the clothes!!
back to the old white vinegar, thanks for the advice0 -
Tennis balls just as good
sorry to be negative but i've got to mention it......
a while ago, being too tight , er i mean moneysaving, to buy dryer balls, i got some tennis balls
but i didn't find they helped
then the dryer just suddenly died. now, it was about 4 and a half years old and i know they've a limited life, so it might be a coincidence, but i just thought i 'd mention it (because when i used the tnenis balls, i did think the noise sounded a bit clunky like it sounded a bit rough!)0 -
Your washing machine smells because bacteria is growing in it. You need to run it with no load and pour liquid bleach into the powder tray. Bacteria is growing because modern detergents, particularly liquid ones, do not contain bleach. The bleach will not harm the machine, just kill the germs and the smell will dissapear. Do this once a month for fresh washing. Bobinbognor0

i picked up this thread from the main email & had to register to reply.
That is so odd because i too have this smelly machine problem & have had for the last 4 weeks or more & what is more odd is that i too am in Ipswich. I will be following all the advice given but it does make me wonder if there is something strang going on here right now. However, conspiracy theories aside, i too have just been using that new small persil stuff.....!!! watch this space0 -
I also have the smelly washing machine problem and it also got much worse after using that new Persil liquid. I was on the verge of buying a brand new machine until I read this thread and realised I could save myself over £250 just by opening my kitchen cupboards!!! I bunged some vinegar and sterilising tablets in the machine and it is now happily running on a 90 degree wash. Thanks everyone for your tips and saving me a lot of money!!0

Yes our washing machine has also become a bit smelly of late and we use the washing balls from Lakeland!
I have started it off with some vinegar and await to be (as ever) amazed.
My OH will think I am a clever girl (he's so easily impressed). Thanks everyone! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi everyone - Newbie alert ! first post and all that, my problem is smelly towels. no matter how hot a wash I put them on they still smell horrible and musty I have a load in there that has just finished and they stink. Going to give it a go with vinegar & bleach. But does any body have any idea how I can get the nasty smell out of my towels? they are alright when they dry but as soon as they get damp again the smell comes back and its yuk. Thank you
