55 reg Audi A4 Avant, 2.0 TDi with 80k on the clock. Always between 40 and 45mpg, mostly motorway use, probably 85% motorway, 15% town. Climate control always on. Uses quite a lot of oil mind, but then my mate has the same car and his is no different.

    Mega-bump :p

I have attempted to work out my MPG for the first time. It's a 1996 Clio 1.2 5dr.

My workings out are bound to be a little inaccurate as i'm using the petrol light as a guide but i've done it 3 times and got the same figure for each: 38mpg.

Reading this thread makes me think it's totally pointless to have bought a small car.... Is 38mpg really bad for a car this size? I made sure i did the same type of journeys each time - round town (mainly school run)

Westfield SEI 1650cc, super unleaded only, it's smaller than a MK2 Fiesta so I think I can sneak in here :p

8 mpg with my toe down
    28 mpg at best
    18 mpg average

But the smile on my face when I hear those twin 40's take a big deep breath before the car launches me down the road in a cloud of tyre smoke :D absolutely priceless :p

Short town journeys are always going to batter your mpg. For that sort of trip 38mpg isn't bad.

    I've got a Hyundai i10 (1.2) - my average mpg = 46.9 (per fuelly.com) just pottering around, most journeys under 10 miles.
With longer journeys, have had an average of 52mpg on the tank.
