As I've said many times before, I use them for home phone, broadband, mobile SIM only and make use of the cash back card to get a great deal imo (there have been months where I've paid nothing and even had a refund!). If you genuinely shop regularly at the retailers included in the card scheme then having at least one service from them is certainly worth considering from a money saving POV. Indisputable, really.
As mentioned before, in my several years' experience with them their CS is arguably the best I have encountered from any company. No off-shore script-readers, you can usually get your query sorted quickly WITHOUT being passed from pillar to post, extremely friendly staff blah blah blah..0 -
As said above, comparison sites don't take into account any discounts such as the cashback card and online cashback. I took the cashback card out middle of last year and started shopping and getting petrol from Sainsburys. Since then I've had about an average of £24 a month off my bill (usual cashback range between £14 and £28 a month).
(Although it may help that my commute is 500 miles a week, and my partners is 260 miles a week lol)
I'm in a 2 bed, just myself and my partner. If you have kids you could get even more than that.
Overall for gas, electricity, home phone and broadband our bills are around £45 a month after cashback. I'm soon to be moving house to a property I've just bought, and as a homeowner will drop to a lower tariff for gas and electricity too
Can't say I've ever had a problem with them, when I phoned to do the home move they answered the phone within about 10-15 seconds.
But each to their own. I know I pay more on the kwh rate than others do. But I also know my overall bill is significantly cheaper than others will be because of the cashback card.0 -

Don't forget one has to spend a certain amount in Sainsbury's before the 3% works for fuel, although that, for me, large spend in the store will last two weeks.
You can get 3% discount off all fuel with the Santander 123 credit card and 1% or 2% on other purchases. This without having to 'jump through hoops' as you do with the UW cashback card
It seems to me the main reason given for staying with UW is to get money off purchases to compensate for their very high gas and electricity prices!
So why not get low gas and electricity prices and then 3%cashback with a 123 card?
Taking the average UK consumption in UK of 13,500kWh pa gas and 3,200kWh electricity The cheapest in my area(Midlands) costs £835 pa(getting gas and electric from separate companies)
The cheapest UW tariff is their 'Double Gold' which costs £1,127
So UW costs £292 extra per year - that is a whopping 35% extra. That's for an average user - loads of us will save even more.
To cap that, in order to get that cheapest 'Double Gold' UW tariff the following conditions apply:To be eligible for the Double Gold Tariff you must also be taking Home Phone, Broadband and Mobile services at a minimum cost of £29.39 per month. Optional upgrades are available for an additional cost.
I don't know enough about telephone/mobile/internet prices but I understand that whilst more competitive - UW are not the cheapest in this area either.
I cannot see any justification for staying with UW on money saving grounds.0 -
And as I've said many times before lol, the Santander is a CREDIT CARD, a wholly different (and potentially more financially threatening) beast. Plus the inevitable credit check that goes on your file etc. Apples with oranges etc etc...
And certainly from my POV, a superb CS experience, when needed, is worth paying a little extra for (in my case, I pay less than with anyone else so I win ):p I hope I haven't dreamt this (possible at my age of course) but I seem to recall Cardew having an almightily frustrating experience with an off shore BT CS Dept regarding his home hub?0 -
After all this time, the trolls are still posting. Meanwhile, I get fantastic customer service and paid £70 in January for gas, electricity, phone, broadband and 3 mobiles. I win. New posters should be aware that Meeper is a UW salesperson, and of course should declare that fact in posts(see Martin's instructions)

Her definition of a troll in this thread is anyone who tells the truth about UW's high prices.
You will note that no attempt to refute my post above stating that for the average consumption customer UW costs £292 pa more than the cheapest tariff - 35% extra.0 -
I did, further up the page. Don't try to make me out to be something sinister.
You can feel free to quote whatever you like from comparison sites (because we all know how reliable they are from recent news, don't we), I'll just go on worrying about the amount that is deducted from my bank account every month, which is considerably less than I can find all of that for elsewhere along with fantastic customer service and the simplicity of having everything on a single bill.
Have a great evening.

Unless of course you can find somewhere that I can get all my energy (in a cold winter month), phone, broadband and 3 mobiles for less than £70? In which case, I'd be glad to hear you out.
Until then, move along, nothing more to see here!I am an Independent Financial AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Independent Financial Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The true cost for your energy, phone, broadband and 3 mobiles is clearly more than this, and you are quoting the net cost after you have used your cashback to pay part of your bill etc, and not the true cost!
Were it true then MSE would be telling us all to sign up with you in their emails to us.
Yet instead we are warned to take care of the claims made by their "evangelical" salesmen who are known to sometimes "over claim", and discussion and mention of your company is restricted to this thread only.0
