  • Ecotricity's variable rate is also more expensive than UW's Fixed to April 2018 tariff and they got 5 stars for Price/Value For Money, Explain that one then. ;)

To be fair UW also have a unique business model as well. Monthly PAPER billing, ebay cashback. card cashback. everything on one bill etc etc.

If it's unique then why compare them? Comparing apples with oranges never gives the true picture.

Just discovered this on my bill, I certainly didn't get a letter. I have opted out straight away and sent them a snotty email asking them to refund any money they may have taken as I certainly didn't agree to it. I wonder just how long they have been taking it! It's on the back page inside of the bill they send. When I read the T&C for the scheme it pretty much excludes everything you might claim for so it's pretty pointless. I haven't worked in 3 years so the unemployment benefit is worthless, then when you get to 70 any benefit is reduced by 50%.

I am heartily fed up of this company and it's only laziness that has kept me with them. The charge for the router is a bloody cheek too, I don't even use theirs! In the years I've been with them I must have paid for it about twice.
  • just some praise for them really. We use them for gas and electric and there customer service is brilliant! Always answer the phone straight away and the staff are genuinely a pleasure to chat to!

Makes me wonder why other companies dont do it if UW find it so easy.
  • Sooperb, I've just noticed that too! Please keep us posted on whether or not you got a refund for it. I'm looking to see if there's anywhere cheaper.
GC October £158.00/£220 And we're only halfway through the month!
    Car Loan £5381.28 ~ £4185.44 to go.
    Mortgage (Oct 2015) [STRIKE]£62 737[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£62123[/STRIKE] £61 502 to go.
  • I was only with them for a month as my energy supplier whilst I switched to another supplier. I received my final bill before the actual switch had been completed and I was sent to a debt collection agency within 2 weeks of receiving it. I would not use this company for anything and would be wary of entering into any agreement with them. Their customer service when I queried being contacted by a debt collection agency was "well if you'd paid the bill we wouldn't have passed it over". Too ready to pass to debt collections and a non-existent form of customer service. I work in service and I was made angry by them!

    God I hate them!
Have you tried turning it on and off again?

Anyone have recent experience of Utility Warehouse for the main, or all, household bills.?

A nephew has started working for them, selling, and is trying to interest my daughter (age 24, just about to get a house after saving madly) and also ourselves in it. I have had a look at the website as am not one to be blinded with selling talk but am not sure....you can't find everything out on it (partner benefits etc) although he tells me he comes out quids in.

We are careful about who we go with and do research to make sure they are the best for us. (eg: I pay £10 a month for my phone and this covers all the minutes, texts, internet I need (and only pay that because I needed a new phone and it came with the contract) and as it's Tesco also get points. Hubby and son pay £7.50 for similar deal)

    So...any feedback?

For clarity, I am a distributor also. It works for me with over 750 customers. The company has over 600,000 customers in the UK and the majority of the services have no minimum contract term. If it was bad, people would leave in droves. Actually, they don't.

I'm curious though - if you don't trust your family, why would you trust the opinions of some people you haven't ever met?

His commission has to be paid and its your daughter who will do the paying - recently moved from UW to Plusnet and halved my bill.t
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Some people would rob their family intentionally.

Some UW distributors believe the hype that they have been fed and would rob their family unintentionally.

If phebe3 doesn't want to listen to opinions(yours and mine) all she needs to do is enter her gas and electric consumption in kWh into any comparison website and see just how much gas and electricity would cost with UW than the cheapest tariffs.

Then go and check all the 'small print' in UW's terms and conditions of their guarantees.

Sadly, the comparison sites do not take into account all of the discounts available when using the UW Discount Club. There is no way to get an accurate indication of how much you will actually pay from a comparison site.
