This person is a nasty individual,

Yesterday you accused me of making "personal attacks" on your family, and now this!

Where have I made these attacks, and where have I been "nasty"?

Just posting such false accusations and abuse just seems designed to attempt to provoke trouble, and nothing else.

Make sure you are using capital Q, the name on the ignore has to totally match the username, including lowercase and uppercase letters etc. I've just done it and his posts aren't showing for me.

Thanks. Forgot about capital Q. Just noticed it works.

Nice one. It basically renders his diversionary tactics of attacking you personally about as impotent as a 90 year old bloke who can't remember where he put the viagra. :D

Attacking me is one thing but attacking my family is quite another. His excuse - I happen to mention the fact that a couple of relatives have or have been a customer as if that makes his twisted logic valid.

I don't think he is a very nice person tbh. Whatever people's feelings are towards UW there is no rational argument from him or the other naysayer either. Their mantra is simple - in their opinion UW is rubbish so don't be conned. It discredits any credibility they may have started with. With 350,000 members and 30,000 IDs all done via word of mouth recommendation is not bad - some won't like what they have to offer but that's for them to decide not Quentin and his side kick.

Again you repeat this false accusation. Wonder why.

Please put up or shut up on this topic.

Where have I "attacked" your family?

I NEVER advise any adult about anything including whether UW is beneficial to them. I show them them information - and let them decide for themselves....
Wow, a salesman who doesn't say anything? Just provides customers with information (like a website does). Must be another first for UW.
Sounds like money/commission for old rope. Does the information you supply give the prospective customer details of how much commission you will earn by them buying from you? Or do you control what information the customer is and is not exposed to?

...your comment has allowed your mask to slip regarding your attitude towards UW
Unlike some, I don't need any mask. My position is quite clear. I actually echo the common sense remarks the MSE Martin makes in his article (and OP) about UW. If that makes me a naysayer in your eyes too, then so be it :)

Hang on, you've already declared your position earlier

I honestly think Quentin and Cardew are being paid by someone to post all the drivel they do here against one particular company. I can't really think of any other reason why they would do so otherwise. They (especially Quentin) don't make such posts about the other utility providers, even though they're guilty of some appalling transgressions, so we've got to think that they have it in for UW for some other reason. It does seem rather weird that they would post so vitreolically against one particular company when they've never even been customers before. Unless of course they have had more involvement than they're letting on. Quentin has access to a 'distributors only' forum, so he must be an ex-distributor or know someone who is. He definitely speaks with forked tongue on the subject, and 'put up or shut up' is definitely a bite, and makes me think he protesteth too much.

Cardew can't complain about a huge difference in prices at the moment, because there isn't really any. (£30 p.a. separates the cheapest 10 for me). With EDF and nPower still to show their hand, UW may be sitting up there as the cheapest provider soon. I know they'll probably have to put their prices up too eventually, but at least we don't have to put up with Cardew's price spam for a while.

I think you can add Premier to that list upto.
  • mixed bag of opinions in this post, i was offered a chance to be a UW distributor and i wasnt sure about it so my decision at the moment is very much in the pending status.......without reading through 96 pages of what appear to be numerous arguments, can someone please tell me if this is worthwhile doing and a steady income or if im totally wasting my time.

    thanks

  • That Which? figure of '20% more expensive than the cheapest available tariff' was either incorrect at the time or UW are getting cheaper, lol. Even allowing for the Which? figure being based on the 'old' average consumption figures of 20500 gas and 3300 electric the difference would appear to be 11.5%, certainly in the Yorkshire region. Midlands area the difference is less than 11% etc.
  • HappyMJ wrote: »
That's quite a statement. Do you have facts to support this?

I'm not defending UW but in the Midlands based on 3,300kWh electric and 16,500kWh gas. EDF online saver 2 comes in at £940 per year and Utility Warehouse comes in at £1,056 per year (on the 3 bedroom medium tariff) only 12% more expensive than the cheapest tariff. As is industry standard all companies only compare their tariffs to other companies standard tariffs the best standard tariff is Npower at £1,024 per year making UW only 3% more expensive.

Well the prices you are quoting in that case then are the pre increased prices which will come soon, so if UW raise its gas and electricity prices similar to the big 6 they will then be 30% more expensive than the tariff you quoted based on your figures.

12% + say 18% and thats what im judging my figures of 20 = 30% higher than the cheapest tariffs on the market not standard.
