    Sounds risky.....

LOL. Hence 'risky' Quentin not having the guts to name the 'alternative' cashback card he's been talking about all this time. It's laughable, frankly...

Perhaps he is out getting a life although judging by the previous 75 pages of drivel it seems unlikely.

The Prepaid Card is an electronic money product and although it is a product regulated by the Financial Services Authority, it is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. No other compensation scheme exists to cover losses claimed in connection with the Prepaid Card. This means that in the unlikely event that Newcastle Building Society becomes insolvent your funds may become valueless and unusable and as a result you may lose your money.

So are you admitting to reading the 75 pages? :p

MBS - let's not get carried away with the BaBee card......perhaps he doesn't mean that one at all.

Obviously he is spending his time away from this thread frantically trying to find a suitable alternative as that one has been exposed as a shocking idea......

Maybe he'll be back when he finds one - hopefully in 2014.

This guy is quite happy to mislead over the which? survey, as well as happily telling us other astonishingly misleading claims:

"Guaranteed savings" on all of your food/petrol/clothes/gas/electricity

The spin over Which? seems to be the opening gambit to gain "credibility" for the uw. And why would anyone expect their friend to blatantly lie like this. (All in the first couple of minutes of the presentation, when apart from the guaranteed savings, the gullibles are told that Which? is "completely third party" and has said for 3 years in a row that uw is the nation's no 1 provider for all utilities!

Then the presentation continues to overstate the "cashback" paid as we have seen that uw does on its website - claiming £25 back for spending £500 on food and petrol - though there can be no "excuse" it just hasn't been updated!

This is brand new, and includes mention of both supermarkets in its false and misleading advertising.

But the friend won't pull the rep up over this spin - the reps wouldn't deliberately mislead a friend would they??

Yes quentin, this guy is misleading and dishonest - i'm sure you'd therefore agree that my way of working is much better and has nothing but benefit for everyone?
  • To borrow a cardew tactic....

For the benefit of new readers, UW is a fantastic and arguably unbeatable option for business customers, for personal customers who want unlimited texts and unlimited minutes for just £20 plus club fee per month, and customers who wish to use a pre-pay cashback card at the till of M&S.
  • Don't lower yourself to that level. We can talk about the merits (and demerits) of the products without needing to lapse into worthless rhetoric. UW stuff is good for some but not for others, that's a point that has been acknowledged by (most) of those who promote it as a business. Trying to prove it suits no-one is just as false as the opposite view. All in my opinion of course. :-)

I agree with that. UW would be useless for me, hence why I turned it down when I was offered it by someone else when I was looking to switch from BG last year. I'd have to double my monthly spending at supermarkets to make it worthwhile which isn't possible. However, many people will find it worthwhile to move because they do spend enough. Just because say fuel bills are slightly dearer doesn't mean that should be a reason on it's own to refuse it. I made that mistake when I first looked at UW. It didn't cost me as further analysis revealed they'd still be slightly dearer, but not as bad as I first made out.

UW do have some negatives, such as the misleading price comparison calculator, but many people would save money when you take into account multiple discounts and the cashback card.

At the end of the day, it is a club not just a gas/electric company and needs to be treated as such.
