Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

So personally I would be delighted if you ignored my posts and then you might not feel you have to contribute your usual posts; which add nothing to the discussion.
If only one or two people heed the warnings about UW's high prices and sales tactics, it will have achieved the aim of a Money Saving Website.
I totally agree with you. By the same token, do you think you could show the grace to agree with me regarding where, how, for what, and with whom I personally "promote" *some" of UWs services?0 -
You are wanting an apology because it has been pointed out you were a rep for uw after you made a misleading and promotional post for uw (on 28/12/10, post #687):
You took umbrage and pointed out you had declared your connection:
That first post was made on 19th August 2010 (post #120), and there were some 560+ posts in the thread between them. And you demand an apology because I pointed out to another poster who queried the contents of that misleading post (#687) that it came from a uw rep! Come off it!
And now you try to say I have lied over business customers and the risky cashback card
I already gave you the source for this:Maybe you should take this up at "source" ie. your own company's ts + cs before using the "mistaken" accusation and righteously coming here long after the event demanding an apology!Or is it more nigewick type behaviour just to cause trouble?
To reply to your several points;
1) It matters not how many posts and when. You made a comment about me personally which was incorrect. Normal protocol for any normal person would be to say "oh sorry about that, my mistake" when pointed out the truth (backed up by historical posts in this thread which are easily checked).
2) I have not at any point posted anything misleading.
3) I am not referring to "risks" related to the cashback card. I am relating to your statement that the card could not be used by business customers, when it in fact can.
Many thanks.0 -
Utility Warehouse CashBack card Participating Retailer Terms and Conditions5. Sainsbury’s:vouchers/cards
i. The 3% saving on your shopping only applies to transactions that are carried out in
store at the till, or at the online checkout, and paid for using your Utility Warehouse
CashBack Card.
ii. The 3% saving does not apply to the following products: any tobacco products;
postage stamps; infant formula/food/milk; gift vouchers/cards; mobile phone top up
Thankyou!
I thought that this was always in the T&Cs? My mistake if not.
I've been buying my ciggies, lottery, and giftcards on it with no problems but of course if this has been a recent change then it will show up on the February bill.
I will in future buy the giftcards from Argos using the cb card0 -
If you are talking about Quentin's links, they are usually on 'you tube' these days.
I think it is quite illuminating to see the Modus operandi of UW salesmen.
I'm sure you meant no harm, but could you say "SOME uw salesmen"? Some of us (well me anyway) have shunned the methods espoused by those types and go it alone on a copmpletely moral and respectable basis.0 -
I have just had a visit from The Green Doctor who specialises in money saving appliances. He fitted reflective foil behind the radiators, water saving shower head, fitted a power saver for the TV and an electricity monitor.
All free!
I was well happy but to set up the electricity monitor he had to know my supplier and I showed him my bill from Utility Warehouse.
He told me that he has not seen a cheaper rate and he has seen many bills in order to set up the monitors0 -

Nobody, but nobody, with any knowledge of gas and electricity proces would believe that story; even the majority of UW salesmen would be embarrassed to state that UW have cheap rates.
It is well known that UW have just about the most expensive gas and electricity prices in UK. Confirm that with any comparison website - including WHICH.
It seems they depend on their cashcard as their sole attraction, and use this to divert attention from their very high gas and electricity prices.0 -
If the poster has low consumption and wishes to pay by paper billing, it is well known that UW have just about the least expensive gas and electricity prices in the UK. Confirm that with any comparison service - including WHICH.
Plus, of course, getting your gas and electric from UW offers other advantages. Like, for instance, add phone line rental to the gas and electricity for an additional £10.75/mth and you would qualify for inclusive unlimited evening and weekend calls to landlines (01, 02 and 03), 0870 numbers, top international destinations and of course 24/7 inclusive unlimited calls to other UW home phone users. Not forgetting a guaranteed UK-based call centre which tends to be very quick to actually answer IME. Plus the chance to get a discount off your bill each month by using the UW cash back at the many listed retailers (including Sainsburys, Asda and Marks and Spencer). For some it can be a no-brainer.
PS I'm suspecting that The Green Doctor, judging by the work they do, come into contact with many many people who would come into the above scenario, i.e low users who wouldn't qualify for online deals on account of them not being on the net. Not everyone lives their life like you, Cardew, surprising as that may seem to you.0 -
Well MillicentBystander I think you have hit the nail on the head as that is exactly what the Green Doctor told me almost verbatim. He told me that I wouldn't be able to save money as I am a low user and I would not be able to take advantage of the 2 tier system offered by many suppliers0

Maybe Cardew should ask the board guides to add a new rule to the start of this thread.
You are only allowed to post and comment about "average users" of gas and electricity. Anything that shows UW to be reasonable is not allowed to be discussed!
What do you think Cardew? To the poster above, you can now expect to be accused of being a UW rep!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the Green Doctor? How do they make a living by coming into people's houses and doing something for free? Seems too good to be true!0
