Just got this one on mine "WANTED iphone 4 MUST be the iphone 4 no 3gs 3g or the rubbish 1st one as my son will be bullied"
and as we were.................
Thats a classic!!! might nick it later on for the freegle funny facebook group.
i love the way people post an 'offered' ad and within a few minutes there are suddenly loads of 'wanted' ads for the same thing....... what have you all only just realised it exists??loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
A couple from today:I would really appreciate if anybody has a Sat Nav or Tom Tom.
I can travel
So you don't need one then?
How wonderfully refreshing!im after a 3 piece suite any colour and any fabric0 -
If you can come up with a sensible answer to the question: "Why is it acceptable to ask for one thing but not more than one, I'm perfectly prepared to listen.
Most groups ( including mine) have a limit to how many wanteds can be posted. We limit to 4 a month and no re-requests within 30 days.
Any unmoderated member on my list who posted a huge shopping list like some of these in this thread ( which would amuse me too if I didn't have cope with similar or worse every day) would find themselves back on full moderation pdq.
Another thing to bear in mind is that just because people request items, it doesn't mean that they get them. Most people can spot a greedy !!!!!!!!!! for what they.0 -
Ohh goody! More!!Any unwanted Computer items.

Yes, I've already said that there are clearly people taking the 'p'. The post below yours is clearly someone trying to get things to sell on. And the request referenced in the post below this one is pretty excessive.
But for someone setting up house it doesn't seem unreasonable to post a list of things that would help.
There may be things they need that for which they are quite prepared to save up and buy new or secondhand. If someone has even one of these it could be a big help.
But if they have six items they require, how are they to know which one someone may have?
The list that caused me to post in this thread did not seem in the least unreasonable. For example, if a couple have one child that sits at a table and two in high chairs, what if the point of them asking simply for 'a table' if any that cannot accommodate their family will be useless to them.
Similarly, because of a lack of space, they need something with deep drawers it seems only sensible to tell people because there is no point offering them something unsuitable. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Someone asking for a Tripp Trapp highchair so baby's parents can feed their child. Surely any highchair would do, not a top of the range one???0

A limit has to be set somewhere or the lists would be overrun. As usual the few spoil it for the majority.
There is in theory actually no problem with requesting items to sell on. If you genuinely have an item that you want to get rid of then what is the problem if someone else benefits/profits from it? There is nothing to stop you selling it yourself. In practice however I would probably take a dim view of trader posting unless they are just asking for broken items ( like a previous post in this thread) that they could fix and sell.
As I've said before if people consider freecycle a way of donating to the "poor and needy" they are misunderstanding its real purpose.0 -
Can anyone suggest what to do with our 14" Sony portable tv ? It's old style CRT, it's about 5 years old and minted. We've advertised it on freecycle 3 times now and no-one's biting, the local charity shops won't take electrical goods at all ... seems a shame to dump it.
Weird, cos loads on our group are asking for tv's. Maybe they're holding out for little skinny LCD tv's ?
Sent from my Tianhe-I supercomputer
Offer it to an old peoples home?0 -

I have exactly the same problem - no interest on FC at all.
Come Saturday provided it isn't raining I shall be putting it at the end of my drive with a "free -help yourself" notice on it. I'll lay odds it will be gone by lunchtime.0
