Our local Hillingdon Freegle (ex-Freecycle) is pretty good. The mods manage the group well (so a big thanks to you if you are reading).

Have given a few things away and it has worked well. I gave away a CRT monitor once - some bloke came on a bicycle to collect. It was so funny watching him strap it to the puny stand above his back wheel!

Not quite in tune with the purpose of this thread, but I just wanted to share this recent post on my freecycle group - I wonder how many people were brave enough to ask for this:

Had to laugh today when this dropped in my inbox:

Subject : Offered bag of ladies size 16.

Doesn't specify quantity or condition, any takers?

Would have been even funnier if they had left the s of mens off in the body of the message (or maybe that is just a spelling mistake?) :

also contains mens, med, grey duffle and ladies size 5 boots
    no phone numbers plz

I think some people have got the wrong idea about what freecycle is about, I think they really do think that it is just a place where you can just get whatever you want and don't realise that it is in place due to a lot of 'goodwill' of others. I really think some people are under the impression that those who offer are sitting here with a big workshop full of stuff waiting to give away

    Wanted desk
    Must deliver. any colour

This one that came up tonight is a prime example, I am really getting to the point where I can't be bothered with it anymore - which is a shame cos if used correctly it beenfits so many people

Completely off topic, but reminded me of when I worked in a library, a customer asked me order him a copy of the joy of sex, which I did. He came back a few minutes later asking me if the illustrations were in colour :rotfl::rotfl: I had to tell him I didn't have a clue, but it would be a surprise when the book arrived :D.

    hello all,

i'm looking for any alarm or security items please.

anything from a house or shed alarm to an old (or new) car alarm,
also need the "extras" too, such as door/wndow cntacts,
sirens, cable, roller-shutter door contacts, etc etc.

working on a bit of a project for allotment security.

any non electrical items would be good too such as door locks
(could do with a Yale), padlocks, hasps, or any other type of
    steelwork (home-made perhaps??? ).

any sort of steel bars, grills, or mesh could be used as well,

if you have anything at all, even something i've not thought of,
i'd love to hear from you,

    many thanks
made me wonder if he's gonna rob the places after he's taken em..... :rotfl:
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
