My local freegle group have just sent out a survey about possible changes to the service. It has the usual, how do you prefer to receive your email, sort of question but it also mentions a few times posisibly charging to use freegle.

Has anyone else had that sort of email from their mods?

Lots of people asking for bikes on mine just now. Some person is being rather persistant and asked 2 days in a row for 2 bikes. Well there is me who desperatly wants a bike saving hard to get one.. Maybe I should post a sympathy story on freecycle.
Also someone looking for a boat if someone has one lying around. Now where is that spare boat in my back garden.

There's always that minority that really take the biscuit isn't there? Someone on my local Freecycle today posting that they have 3 kids - would someone like to give them all a bicycle? Yeah ... right!

Puts me in mind of a radio programme some years ago hosted by (I think) Sam Costa. Music interspaced with their version of Freecycle. Most of it genuine, but the tryers-on were a source of unintentional humour - stuff like 'Mr Smith of Luton is out of work but is sure he could find a job if someone gave him a motor car - must be taxed and MOT-ed'... etc. I suspect 50% of all the world's knitting wool used to pass through that programme!:D

Someone offered loads of old A-Z's on my local Freecycle group only last week.

In general, streets never dissapear nor do one way systems switch direction so these older books will still be
very useful to someone that does not have a clue where they are.

I had a wanted sent back because they asked for "local" area in subject line not Glasgow, as I had said I was willing to collect from Glasgow and the surrounding area I replied I had put Glasgow as my local area - I got another reply saying "LOCAL" not Glasgow in capitals, I suggested as I was 15 minutes walk form the city centre Glasgow is local to me and he could put NE Glasgow if he wanted. I also put that I had been polite and saw no reason for his rudeness. As of yet my post has not appeared. Freeshare accepted it as is though.

Just appeared, in the last digest.

Surely "Glasgow" actually represents a large area?
Both Freegle and Freecycle are about local gifting, so saying "Glasgow" could mean that someone from the other side might think that you are
clsoe to them - when in fact they would have to cross the entire (is it a city?) to get to you.

However, using the local area name, and I am sure that most parts of most places have local names will identify it to a smaller area than the whole of Glasgow.
