On the flip side it's a pity some people don't know about the likes of Freecycle or even think about charity shops when they want to get rid of stuff.

This morning I acquired two very large gold picture frames (with rather naff pictures in) which had been put out for the rubbish collection!

I'm now making a habit of taking my dog for a walk around the local back streets on bin day to see what treasures we can find!
  • our Freecycle is often quite polite and reasonable, but the odd one slips through

    Wanted-Treadmill:M**********

I need to loose some weight as I have been diagnosed as border line Diabetes. I
am not obese but about 2 stone overweight.
I have also had a full knee replacement so I am s little limited to what
    exercise I can manage.

I cannot jog but I could manage an exercise cycle or a Treadmill.

so walking round the block out of the question then? Jeez.

This was a GCSE English Lit set text this year - talk about leaving it a bit late!! I would point them in the direction of the local library...

  • She then posted another message saying ' I was told I need to say thanks'

    so:
'my daughter needs this immediately. can collect soon
    J

I work in a town centre library and have seen requests on my local freecycle from people (giving town centre postcodes) who are "desperate" for a book for an essay. If we have the book on the shelf I email them & offer to put it behind the counter for them. Only one person has ever asked me to do this. Everyone else has ignored me and then later put another pleading message on freecycle saying how desperate they are getting!

She obviously hasn't or she wouldn't be scrabbling to find a copy this late! :p
