I've been having a massive spring clean and listed a ton of really nice stuff on freecycle in the past two weeks, I've been shocked at how many people when they respond to my offers don't feel its necessary to even type a message at all!

An example. Today I have listed Straightening irons (hardly used and a good make) and a camera bag. For the Irons so far I have had 3 responses, two were blank messages and the third wanted me to deliver. The Camera bag, Its only been listed for 15 mins and Ive had two blank messages. Do people really expect to get a response and a free item if they cant have the good grace to actually send me a nice polite message with a please and a thank you. Suffice it to say such people will go into my ignore list and Ill go with the politest reply. Is it just me? maybe i'm just getting old. :-/

I wonder if they have set an auto reply to try & get everything that is listed on yours, and are too idle to even use a basic message.
I always get the same people wanting whatever I add but never mentioning what it is.

So annoyed with Freecycle! Listed a table and chairs beginning of the week in excellent condition, but said I needed them gone by the end of the week.

Had 5 people want them so went with the first. He said he could collect Tuesday or Wednesday. When I asked what time he'd be over he was working away this week and would come sometime next week???

Offered to a second person who told me they could come any evening this week. She then said 'I need to try and borrow a van off someone, can I let you know?' ugh!

Yesterday emailed the rest of them, 2 emailed back saying 'sorry can't get transport to pick it up, could you deliver?' and the final one saying 'am away on holiday till next week, can come then?'

    Seriously did they not read!!!!

ohhh kr15snw that WOULD annoy me!!!!!

    on mine this afternoon:
    WANTED: hello all

hello me and my partner have just moved to S5 and our children are wanting to play outside but due to us just moving we have nothing at all for them to play with outside, so i was just wondering if anyone is S5 that had anything that they no longer need we are looking for

    play houses
    swings
    slides
    swimming pools
    trampolines
    bikes
    footballs

anything along them lines so if you could spare any kids toys that would mean so much to us.

    thanks in advance
(from another post... she doesn't drive so would be interesting seeing her collecting some of it!!)
WANTED: I know this is a long shot but.....my neighbour had some of his sheep rustled a couple of days ago, and they left three lambs behind. We are bottle feeding them until they can be weaned. They are currently in a small homemade pen, but this will need to be moved around. Has anyone got a moveable pen of some kind that can be moved round his lawn. He is 83 so needs something that he and I can move fairly easily. The lambs will go back to his field once they are a bit bigger. Hopefully not to be rustled....

O.k! Re offered the table this afternoon and had the guy who was working away come back and say he was still interested and could collect tomorrow? (I thought he was away??). Also had another guy say he could collect instantly. So I emailed both back saying tomorrow would be great could they confirm a time they were available (we are in all day), I also reminded them it was a large object (I could picture someone turning up in a small car and then go 'oh rats it don't fit!!').

New guy emailed back first 'Yes I have a van, when can I collect?' Ugh I told you to give me a time!!! Grrrr. So emailed back asking for time.

Old guy emailed back 'I can collect from Monday, what time is best?' THATS NOT TOMORROW YOU LIAR!!!! lol

BUT another new guy has emailed and says he has a van and can come tomorrow morning :D We've agreed between 10 and 12 so HORAY! It might finally be gone!

And to think this thing is immaculate and solid wood! It's probably worth about £100 but we just don't have the time to sell it (carpet being fitted tomorrow afternoon with new furniture delivered and we have no where to store the thing!)

    Rant over! Lol

    My local freecycle today;
OFFER: Approx 10 bin bags of assorted garden pebbles

We cleared our patio and wanted to rid it of these pebbles. May need
cleaning as there is some soil, dead twigs and garden debris in with
them. Pick up only. (May need two people as bags are quite heavy)

I'm wondering how much of this 10 binbags worth of pebbles is the soil and dead twigs...
  • I posted a while ago about how nice one freecycle experience went. Not so much this one.

Posted a large set of blinds on our freecycle. Made an appointment for the lady to come over after work - 5 pm or so. NO SHOW. I called her at 7 pm and she said she had to work late and would be here in half an hour. NO SHOW. Next morning I got an email from her stating " the dog was sick" and could she come today at 12 pm. Said OK. NO SHOW. Decided to move the blinds from the room where they had been waiting for pick up. Stepped on sharp metal end and got huge hole in bottom of foot. Probably needed stitches because it bled whenever I walked. Foot got infected a few days later. Limped out to bin and tossed blinds. Got an email 5 days later from same woman wanting to know if she could come for blinds!!!

hi has anyone got a sat nav they are not using we need one to take the grandchildren on trips out. + also my grandson needs a molie phone. they are all so wanting a laptop these are big asks but they would be very greatful and you would make them very happy our mobile *********** many thanks joe
Dear Joe, firstly, buy a map. You must recall those? As a Grandparent you really have to pre date sat navs and I'm sure that back in your day, whenever that was, you were able to go out on trips as a child because you had one of those wondrous devices called a FNUCKING MAP! Seriously Joe, how do you find your way to Tesco of a weekend? Hmm?

Secondly, nobody needs anything, except perhaps food, water and air. Your Grandson really doesn't need a laptop and a mobile does he? They are things we all desire yes, but need? No.

Thirdly, asking for a Laptop, Sat Nav AND Mobile Phone in one post is nothing but sheer greed. Then expecting people to telephone you on your premium rate mobile to offer them to you? I suggest you take a trip into the real world. (thus assuming you can find it without a sat nav)
