    Just in on ours:

    WANTED: everything for flat
my son is getting his first flat and needs everything ie: double
    bed,sofas,table and chairs ect

If you can afford to enter in to a contract to buy/rent surely you would have budgeted for some basics even if second hand rather than expect the rest of us to furnish them? What happens if nobody offers him anything, does he sleep on the floor and go back round his mum's for food and to get his washing done?

Not only that Daisy, but surely you would WANT to try and get some nice new things for your first home - personally I really wouldn't fancy sleeping on someone else's (as in a stranger's) cast-off mattress, but then I'm particular I guess ...
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

For some reason these things are worth a lot on eBay, especially the original 80's stuff, so I'm not surprised lol. Even the new bits seem to lose almost no value if looked after, as I discovered while trying to get some for my godson. Found a beat up but perfectly usable little cottage at the charity shop for £1.50 the other day though :D so am going to be super-godmother this month!

We were given a load of Silvanian family stuff via a friend of the M-I-L. We offered it on as the children have enough large toys, snapped up quickly to a delightful family looking for some toys.
Hi, I am a student filmmaker. I really need an Apple Mac, or similar apple computer to edit films on. Would appreciate any offers. Thank you

    lolz. or course you do!

I'll offer him my MBP for £800, I found PC programmes better than Macs so would gladly move back.

Perhaps a quick email about the costs of vaccinations and spaying? I can't afford to 'run' a pair of rabbits myself nowadays :D

I find Freecycle a good idea. I use it regular for both Offered and Wanted. I just make sure that I do not hand my stuff over to any suspected traders.
I may be in the minority but I had not have any bad experience.

True, there are a few seemingly unrealistic wanted adds and half of them come from chancers that want to make a profit but there are also genuine cases.

I got a Mobility Scooter for myself over it and a Dingy. The Scooter broke after a year of use and I offered it back on the local Freecycle and I know that it has gone to someone that has repaired it and now his father is using it. The Dingy gets me out in the summer as I would otherwise be only able to stay in my very local area.

I never resell what I get over Freecycle but should I no longer need the item I re offer it. I get 'old' computers that I check out and offer to families locally. As far as I know I have not been deceived so far. I get plenty of 'traders' when I offer items but it is up to me who I think is worthy of the item.

Freecycle is helping locally and it beats flytipping. I may have a different attitude to the whole of recycling as I grew up on the 'Continent' with it and for me it is normal to hand things over I no longer need. Also we had street collections of unwanted items once every 6 month. ANY household item (including Sofas, Beds, Wardrobes, White Goods, Old Electricals etc) you could put out 12 hours before collection. Usually half of it disappeared on someones Van overnight and the rest got collected.
Again, that beats flytipping and if someone wants my unwanted broken items for whatever reason is welcome.

Just bear in mind that some people are genuine even if it does not sound like it and asking cost nothing.

This is only my private opinion.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

This made me giggle this morning on my local Freecycle Email.

Offer. 4xboxes of kitchen stuff. Plates, bowels, cutlery etc. :D
:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing
