    Made me giggle:

We once offered a midi hi-fi system and the chap who collected it turned up on his bike! Somehow he managed to fit all the speakers & components into the various saddle bags etc and even stuffed the remote inside the waistband of his lycra shorts! Put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!!:D

This was recently posted on ours:

    Hi All,

We have just had an arrival in a new baby boy, and this means we are on the hunt for sevral things - (we know we shouldn't be to picky, but we would prefer good condition and working items !!)

We are after the following if you can help :-

1 x freestanding Dishwasher in good working order and standard size !

1 x Tumble dryer again in good working order (we have one but it keeps shorting out our electrics !! which is a shame as it is only 4 years old or so !)

1 x Set of White Drawers for baby's room

1 x set of bunk beds for our two other children (preferebly wooden but not overly concerned - we just need more floor space !) but not with matresses !!

We would really appreciate your help with anyone of these things and wish you all, all the best !

All polite enough but talk about bad planning! Surely they would have had at least 6 months notice of "the arrival of a new baby boy"??

you would assume so... we have a child and one one the way... we don't have a dishwasher!!

our tumble dryer just died on us - it was about 3 years old..... we had to buy a new one.

    why white drawers????

bit like the one on ours today - i offered some baby clothes and they needed them becuase "due to a medical condition our daughter only discovered she was pregnant at 7 and a half months and is due any day so they haven't had time to buy things"

since i posted the taken (by someone who asked nicely and had previously given us an item) she has posted the sob story as a wanted:
    an electric steam sterilizer.
a layette box. plastic preferred but any will do
    a nappy stacker.
baby wide neck bottles of any size.
a big ask but if anyone has a baby changing unit that would be ideal
    moses basket/crib/carry cot bedding
    cot bumper and quilt

I find freecycle hilarious :D haven't had much luck with my few & far between 'wants' but my 'offers' have all gone and the people have been really nice too.

Apart from the wanteds for 'american style fridge', 'leather suite in excellent condition', 'laptop no more than a year old' the funniest thing I saw went something along these lines:

'I'm a 19 year old male looking for an older woman for some fun' :rotfl::rotfl:

I wonder if that will stop the 19 year old or the older woman going to landfill.

One on my freegle recently requested a whole heap of newborn items, because the missus had just given birth or was about to.

So, the 'normal' items, Baby gro's/sheets/moses basket.
and then... a Baby Walker.. I couldnt help but think why ?

    A) newborn has no need for such a item.
    B) there clunky and take up room
    C) there ( imo ) bad for a child.

ohhh this made me laugh.... wonder what they are 'wanting' once they have posted enough 'offers?'
    OFFERED: measuring jug
standard 1 pint pyrex measuring jug, except that the lettering has almost worn off. so fine as a jug, but not brilliant for measuring!

How bizarre, I read this page of the thread and then checked today's Freecycle emails to see if any of them were equally amusing, and then discovered that Chickywiggle and I are subscribed to the same Freecycle group! :)

Interesting to see that other groups allow animals to be Freecycled - not allowed on mine (nor is alcohol, as I discovered when I tried to Freecycle some, got my wrists slapped by the mods )

Don't worry Chickywiggle I promise not to ask for your items and then not turn up!!

I liked the caravans too - especially the way the mods got them next to each other on the digest :rotfl:
