Must check out their prices next.
They could have lower overheads because they probably only pay peanuts.0 -

I think there is room for argument. However it takes a very small difference in a price rise to change things. In fact in the Southern Region only 1p of the rise accounts for the reduction of discount on electricity.

I wasn't refering to the prices being exactly the same (in fact I think Ebico is a tad ahead of the game) but was refering to market positioning.
As to pricing, the market is all screwed up. Take british gas. Their residential sales arm makes a loss but their production side makes a big profit. They have claimed that cross subsidisation would be illegal. So are they really selling themselves gas at inflated prices then losing money passing it on to us? On paper maybe, but how come Ebico are cheaper and break even?
Energy companies are probably bigger liars than banks and thats saying something! (allegedly

By my calculations that means you use about 55,000 kWh of gas pa if you pay by DD.0 -
Utility comaonies, banks liars. You can't say that; its an indirect slander on me, as I'm sure the UTs I possess must have shares in both.
I'll settle for 'economical with the truth'.:D0 -

No, don't use as much as that, we use about 36,000 kWh per annum and I did work it out based on the new BG prices with the usual two tiers.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I changed to Ebico for my gas about a month ago in the knowledge that they would be increasing their prices this month so I was neither surprised nor disappointed when they did so.
I've just run my data through energylinx and find that the only company that could provide me savings is npower; a massive £1.41 so I'm staying put.
I hope I can relax until next Sep. while I watch the other suppliers successively raise their prices.0 -

You're right you now save 226 over BG. But you could save 90 pound more and get 20 pound cashback.....if you wanted to. But will those suppliers raise their prices soon? as they last raised in 1st April and 2nd May0 -
Cardew wrote:Did you factor in the BG discount for DD?
Yes, have just checked the BG site prices again and worked it out as follows:
Paying by DD
Tier 1 First 4572 kwh per annum @ 5.207 per unit (inc VAT) = 238.06
Tier 2 31,428 kwh @ 2.941 per unit (inc VAT) = 924.29
Total for a year at current price £1162.35
36,000 kwh per annum with EBICO @ 2.55 per unit (inc VAT) £918.00
Total saving for the year is a massive £244.35Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Yes I probably could save some more now that Ebico have put their prices, but as you say the suppliers that are currently a bit cheaper may well have an increase shortly - if I am correct I think it is Atlantic and Npower that were a bit cheaper??
I switched to Ebico last month knowing that an increase was imminent, so I am not really disappointed - I like the whole idea of Ebico, they don't seem as greedy and grasping as some of the other suppliers!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
