Just went online at EON to look at my new bill and spotted this - Free Energy Fit Starter Pack (worth over £45) , I clicked the button and requested one - really easy to do. It said was from 15th May 2010.

Here is all the stuff about it which was under FAQ. Basically when I logged into my account the offer was shown on the righthand side of the screen.

What’s in the Energy Fit Starter Pack?

The Energy Fit Starter Pack includes:
  • The latest ‘ENVI R’ energy monitor model (worth around £45) which allows people to view their electricity use instantly, as well as how much they’re spending on their electricity daily and monthly
  • Exclusive software which allows users to track their consumption over hours, days and weeks
  • An energy monitor installation and usage guide, which includes energy saving tips.
Why are you launching the Energy Fit Starter Pack? We know that many people are keen to improve their energy efficiency at home, but are not always sure what next step to take. That’s why we’re launching the Energy Fit Starter Pack.

The Energy Fit programme is designed to give energy saving ideas and tools to our customers, enabling them to take the next step towards energy fitness –from those who are at the beginning of the journey to those who are looking for more advanced ideas. This programme will develop over time.

You say this is the beginning of the ‘energy fit journey’ – what else should I expect?
This programme will develop over time and the Energy Fit Starter Pack is just the start. Over the coming months and beyond, we’ll be launching a number of energy saving initiatives to help people become and stay energy fit, from simple energy saving ideas and tools to information about our new micro generation products, so watch this space.

We are hoping to make you more engaged with your energy and happier with your energy supplier.



Who can get the Energy Fit Starter Pack? Which product(s) do I have to be on?
Any existing or new energy customer on any product can get the Energy Fit Starter Pack while stocks last, so long as they pay by Direct Debit or prepayment meter and manage their accounts online. In addition, StayWarm and WarmAssist Fixed customers can also get the pack, but don’t have to manage their accounts online. Customers must be supplied by E.ON for their electricity and / or gas.

Which customers are excluded from receiving the Energy Fit Starter Pack?
Customers who pay by Cash are excluded from receiving the Energy Fit Starter Pack. Also if any customer, who is not on WarmAssist Fixed or Staywarm, pays by Direct Debit or prepayment is NOT signed up for online account management they WILL NOT receive the Energy Fit Starter Pack.

I don’t want to manage my account online, can I still get the Energy Fit Starter Pack?
No. Customers must manage their accounts online to receive the Energy Fit Starter Pack. The only exceptions to this requirement are StayWarm and WarmAssist Fixed customers.

Managing your account online is easy and convenient. It is better for the environment, customers can provide meter readings, pay bills online at any time of day and those that are online will get no more paper bills.

I don’t want to pay by Direct Debit, can I still get the Energy Fit Starter Pack?
No. Only customers that pay by Direct Debit will receive the Energy Fit Starter Pack unless they have a prepayment meter.

Paying by fixed Direct Debit meansyou can spread the cost of your energy evenly throughout the year and avoid high bills in winter, and also benefit from additional discounts of up to 8% on energy bills, and if you pay by variable Direct Debit you can be sure to only pay for the energy you use by submitting meter readings online.

When will I get my Energy Fit Starter Pack? Why does it take so long?
We’re advertising the launch of the Energy Fit Starter Pack from Saturday 15 May. We aim to send the pack to customers within 28 days of them requesting the pack, having their account go live, and registering online.

This is our standard turnaround time for putting the pack together and sending it out to customers. This is a similar timeframe to previous energy monitor offerings, and we hope that customers will receive their packs sooner than this. However if demand is very high then there could be a delay in the pack being sent.

Will the Energy Fit Starter Pack fit through my letterbox?
Unfortunately, the Energy Fit Starter Pack will not fit through standard sized letterboxes due to the size of the free energy monitor. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are making this clear to customers when they request the pack.

If you are not in when the Energy Fit Starter Pack is delivered then it will be sent to your local Delivery Office. You will most likely receive a ‘While you were out card’ with the local Delivery Office location, contact information and opening hours listed on the back of the card. so you can pick up the pack when it is convenient for you.

How many Energy Fit Starter Packs are you giving away?
We have a limited number of Energy Fit Starter Packs which will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. We’ll be closely monitoring stock levels and will stop offering the Energy Fit Starter Pack If necessary.

How does the Energy Fit Starter Pack differ from competitors’ energy monitor products? Isn’t it just the same thing?
The Energy Fit Starter Pack is not a tariff; it’s a pack of tools and information to help you on the next step to getting energy fit. We’re the only energy supplier to offer this monitor and software package across all our energy products at no extra cost.

What if I change my mind about being on the Energy Fit journey; can I leave and will I be asked to pay for the Energy Fit Starter Pack?
The energy fit programme will develop over time and over the coming months and beyond, we’ll be launching a number of energy saving initiatives to help people become and stay energy fit. However, if you do decide to leave the programme at any time, there is no cancellation charge, tie in or additional cost.

What is the cost of this service?
Signing up and using the Energy Fit Starter pack service will not cost you anything. In fact it may actually save you money on your energy bills as, if used correctly, you will be more informed about your usage plus you’ll get to be part of an Energy Fit journey which is committed to help you improve your energy efficiency at home.

Why would I not be able to have Energy Fit?
In order to take advantage of this service you need to ensure you have an energy product with E.ON. Other reasons why you may not qualify for Energy Fit include
  1. If one of your fuel fails to go live
  2. If you do not pay by Direct Debit or Prepayment
  3. If you do not take up online account management (unless on WarmAssist Fixed or Staywar)
  4. If you have not activated online account management within 6 weeks of registration and activation email
  5. If you don’t want to receive future communication regarding Energy Fit
What happens if I move home?
If you are an existing Energy Fit Starter Pack customer simply take your package to your new home to monitor and understand its energy efficiency. Make sure you contact E.ON to let us know about your new address so we can put you on the best deal and ensure you get to hear about what is happening next on Energy Fit!

How can I measure off peak circuits?
If you would like to monitor any off peak circuits then you can either connect this monitor and transmitter to the circuit in question or alternatively purchase an additional monitor from our webshop. Please note that this is a different energy monitor than the one that is available with the Energy Fit Starter Pack.

What if I want another Energy Fit Starter Pack?
You are only eligible for ONE Energy Fit Starter Pack per household


What if I switch supply?
You will no longer be eligible for Energy Fit if you switch supplier and will no longer recieve future Energy Fit assistance.

I have an older version of the energy monitor – can I swap it?
Of course, you can request your Energy Fit Starter Pack like anyone else. Simply make sure you pay by Direct Debit or have a prepayment meter and manage your account online (unless you are a StayWarm or WarmAssist Fixed customer).

Who do I call if I need to speak to someone about my monitor?
In order for the to talk through any products, tariffs prices etc you should call the General Enquires line on 0845 052 0000.

In order to talk through any problems / issues / faults you may have with the monitor or software regarding installation or use, the number to call is 0800 0921906 and then press 1.
In order to talk through any energy efficiency advice and / or what your monitor and software is telling you with regards to your usage the number to call is 0800 0921906 and then press 2.
Remember lines are open from Monday to Friday 11am-7pm and Saturday 9am-5pm.

How do I sign up to manage my account online?
Registering for online account management is simple. If signing up online then this will happen as part of the sign up process.
To set up online account management you need to have your account number and postcode to hand. Then
  1. Go to Your Account (on right hand side of page)
  2. Type in your account number and postcode
  3. Choose a username, a password and enter an email address that you’d like all your emails to go to
  4. An email from E.ON will be sent through to the address you’ve given (check your junk email folder just in case as sometimes our emails have been sent to junk folders)
  5. Open the email and click on the link provided to be set up for online account management
What happens to the data if I unplug my energy monitor?
No data will be recorded while the monitor is unplugged. Your reports will show no information for the time period when the monitor is off.

To make sure you keep a copy of any data recorded prior to the monitor being unplugged, we recommend that when you switch the monitor on you download your data using the Energy Fit Software. You can then set the time and the monitor will continue to record your energy usage. Remember to download information at least every 30 days to maintain a continuous record.

    I'm with EON for few years also after moving home. Paying quite big bills but by card quarterly when bill's coming and they don't allow me to order this energy monitor :mad:

    Might switch to DD to get energy monitor and back to quarterly bills after a while. Worth doing? Anything against this move? ;)

    Hi Maciek aka Magic,

    Sorry for any confusion this has caused but you can join Energy Fit irrespective of your payment method.

    I believe the sentence about prepayment and Direct Debit is incorrect. I’ve no idea at present why this is displayed, but I’ve raised this with our website people to take a look at.

    If you want to join Energy Fit but the website isn’t letting you proceed through the registration please call us and we can register you over the phone.

    If anyone on this site needs assistance I can also help with this. Please just use the email address in my profile page.

    I’ll update this thread when I get more information.

    Further to my previous post.

    I may have misunderstood the availability of Energy Fit as it appears that this offer is actually limited to certain payment methods and not available to all. I am looking into this now and getting clarification but it appears that my previous post is inaccurate, I apologise for the inconvenience and I will update the thread with the correct information as soon as I have an answer.
