WARNING! EDF Energy Customers

Hi Cardew,
Yeah there doesn't seem to be any consistency in these prices at all - I'm assuming it stems from it being three different companies all under the banner of EDF but even then it makes no sense!
Incidently my friend was with Seeboard and she lives just around the corner from me and her prices were different from mine too so I don't think we'll be figuring it out any time soon!
Even my price is still reasonably cheap though so despite their bizarre price structure I'm just happy to be on any of their online tariffs to be honest.
Regards

Cardew wrote:Those prices are cheaper than your prices(after rise) Seems strange that EDF are giving their on-line customers such low prices, when they have no need to do so. You would at least think they would bring them into line with each other.
I would have thought that all the online tariffs would be brought into line with one another too so who knows what is going on.
I got the same letter as millie giving the correct percentage increases as they obviously discovered that the letters they sent out in July were wrong. I'm surprised that millie had an increase in July though as she says she was only on that tariff since May. As far as I understood it was the tariffs pre April that went up.
My tariff is/was v3.1.
Stiil, as you say, it still remains the lowest around. :j0 -
Hi Michelle, Thank you for your message. I had similar thoughts. I'm changing to npower for both fuels from British Gas and Scottish Power /Manweb. Would be interesting to hear whether anyone else has heard this story.mleonard79 wrote:Hi Doublecee,

As for your problem I can't tell you for sure they were lying but it does sound very iffy and I know that when I was switching from British Gas to EDF they tried to scare me off by telling me a load of bad things about EDF (ie you'll have to pay a standing charge with those prices - I dont, EDF are about the have a price rise of around 30% - this way May and they've only just put the prices up so...). So basically I'm sceptical of them saying this to you when you're trying to cancel and I'd be inclined to think it's scaremongering. Who are you switching to? It should be pretty easy to find out if that's true or not from those who already use the company.

My experience of EDF is they are absolutely pathetic at dealing with problems.
My gas meter was changed shortly after I joined them in May 2005, something that really confuses them. Despite being given meter readings every month since I joined them (I religiously take a reading on the 1st of every month and submit it) they have continued to count the units from my old meter so my bills bear no relation to my actual readings.
They have been informed of everything in detail and only recently changed the meter number on my bill. I have just looked at my new bill online and it has an outstanding balance of £650!! It's a complete mess. I'm gonna have to pour over every estimated bill, every meter reading (which thankfully I keep a note of), every payment and take into account price changes.
Incidentally the only price increase I was informed of was in March this year.
It quotes "London Energy Standard Online Monthly Direct Debit Dual Fuel Prices.
I haven't had anything since the name change or takeover or whatever happened.0 -
Just got a letter from EDF this morning telling me of another price increase for the online tarriff as of 1st October.
Anyone else had it yet ?
I joined in May on v 4 i think - Southern electricity area.0
