I don't feel I can win with any of them.
I look for a cheaper one, give the existing high monthly DD figures I currently pay, they quote me lower ones, I still end up owing more than I pay each month. I swear the meters are programmed to speed up!
I'm sick of it and wish I could use natural energy such as turbines and solar panels. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Just to add Emma - this thread has some views on Atlantic
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=257402&highlight=Atlantic+gas+electricity
I've just checked on uswitch and it definitely seems EDF are still the best priced for me so we'll just have to cope with the rise - been expecting it for months but still never nice when it lands on the mat!!

I've just been in touch with EDF ( for Gas) and received a credit of £87 ! I will look into going on the online tarriff tho.
Many thanx0 -
Hi Emma,
That's great about the rebate! The online tariff I have is online tariff 4 and it is really very good even with the price rise I've been told about today. I'll detail the new prices from 2nd of October below so you can compare them to the atlantic prices you've been quoted:
Standard Domestic Electricity Exc VAT Inc VAT
Charge for first225 Kwhs per quarter 9.27p 9.73p
Charge for all other Kwhs used 7.05p 7.40p
Standard Gas
Charge for first 1465Kwhs per quarter 3.060p 3.213p
Charge for all other Kwhs used 2.032p 2.134p
Hope this helps you and also anyone else looking to know what the new prices are (of course they vary by region and these are the prices for Scotland but hopefully good as a guide anyway.)
Regards

Did you tariff(online tariff 4) have a rise in July 2006 or was that online tariff 3.1?
I assume new customers cannot get that tariff? the prices are very low.0 -
Not sure how to start a new thread.
Today I had a call from British Gas. I'm in the middle of changing my supplier. They told me that my intended supplier would be charging me £93 for having a meter in my home. I'm on prepayment. Surely this can't be true. Advice needed.0 -
Hi Cardew,
Yeah you're right the EDF online tariffs are very confusing!! I joined up in May and it is online tariff 4.0 as far as I know. There was no price rise in July which surprised me as I was expecting one and others on this thread said they had got letters detailing one so..... As far as the prices go yes I realise they are still very low but they're 26% up on what I'm paying at the moment so you can see how low the prices actually were to begin with!
I assumed the EDF Online Tariff is still around but at the time I took it the company was London Energy and EDF may have discontinued it when they merged Lonon Energy and Seeboard - anyone know for sure? I checked on the comparison pages and there's no sign of and EDF online tariff which is a shame for those wanting to sign up. If anyone else has managed to find it let us know! I will be sticking with it for now as it is still significantly cheaper than anything else.

Hi Doublecee,
To start a new thread just click on "new thread" at the top left hand corner of the forum when you are on the page that lists the threads in the sub-forum you're reading.
As for your problem I can't tell you for sure they were lying but it does sound very iffy and I know that when I was switching from British Gas to EDF they tried to scare me off by telling me a load of bad things about EDF (ie you'll have to pay a standing charge with those prices - I dont, EDF are about the have a price rise of around 30% - this way May and they've only just put the prices up so...). So basically I'm sceptical of them saying this to you when you're trying to cancel and I'd be inclined to think it's scaremongering. Who are you switching to? It should be pretty easy to find out if that's true or not from those who already use the company.

I have been on the online tarriff since May the prices went up at the end of Julythey are charging me
Electric
1st 225 @ 12.05p Balance @ 7.02p
Gas
1st 1465 @ 2.613p Balance @ 1.999p
I had a letter confirming these prices this week apparently the previous notification showed the wrong percentage increase even thought the unit price was correct0 -

jem16 who also lives in Glasgow and is ex London Energy to EDF had a price increase on 31 July 2006 and posted:EDF Online tariff for my area - includes VAT but not discounts for loyalty and self-read meter readings.
Gas
2.678p(first 1465 kWk used each quarter) was (prior to 31.7.06)2.231p
1.907p was 1.590p
Electricity
11.34p(first 225 kWh used each quarter) was 9.45p
7.22p was 6.03p
Those prices are cheaper than your prices(after rise) Seems strange that EDF are giving their on-line customers such low prices, when they have no need to do so. You would at least think they would bring them into line with each other.
EDIT
and Millie pays yet another price for gas(electric I can understand as there are regional variations)
Gas. Michelle pays 2.134p, Millie pays 1.999p and jem16 pays 1.907p (all for tier 2.) The latter 2 had rises on 31/07/060
