    what is a passport deal?

Every year Costco send their members a "passport" of dated offers - usually about 4 or 5 for each week, spread over Sept thru Oct.

Usually good bargains, random example Triple Velvet toilet roll, £6 off their usual prices, which means 5 x 12 rolls for £8.79+VAT (stock up for the year!). Amongst these offers are high value electrical ones such as the Sony LCD screen.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

This may be a stupid question, but there's no reference to the tuners being digital. Does this mean this will still need a 'freeview' box? If so, how does that work with two tuners?

This nornmally gives it away ... "Nicam stereo" which means it will have at least one analogue tuner. My guess would be that both would be analogue, but could be wrong.

However, they do have a Panasonic 42" plasma for £900.

Please note: This is a Plasma screen only. To use this screen as a conventional TV set you will need to add the following:
    A TV tuner
    Speakers

Alternatively get the Samsung LE40R73BD from Currys for £1120 (minus voucher/quidco discounts), which is a newer/better model and comes with freeview built in?

The Costco offer on the Sony sounds unbeatable though!

    Or £1030 here:

Not sure whether this has twin tuners, but it has the same model number. Can't think of any reason where two would be especially useful anyway - not unless there's a hard drive in there too. :)

Aldi are calling this "Full HD" .. but it is not. Full HD should mean a 1920x1080 resolution, so that it can properly display 1080i signals. It is 1024x768, and therefore not Full HD by any stretch of the imagination.

    Yeh - got that!!!

The question was, if the tuners are both analogue, the TV will need a digital box to receive Freeview. But, will two tuners require two boxes?
