Going totally off topic here.. - I see in your sig you're looking to go to see the Northern Lights. I am also hoping to go this autumn/winter and am curious at your £1500 target for this. Is it Norway you are going? and is £1500 for two people?
I've not started looking at prices yet, but i've heard Norway is extremely expensive and was contemplating going to Iceland instead. Just wondered if you had done any planning yourself and if you can recommend any websites/companies?
 Now back to the thread...!
Yes we are going on a Norwegian cruise with a company called (something like ) Hurtigruten . The £1500 is my share but should include spends. The cruise includes meals and we are hoping to keep additional spends low as yes norway is expensive. It includes the cost of dog sleding and one other trip as yet undecided. The cost is merely an estimate based on the brochure - we are going to a local travel agent who specialises in this type of trip in a couple of weeks.
We looked at a few and also looked at Iceland but the company we have chosen look to be experts - I had a dissapointing experience a few years ago when we went to lapland on a cheap deal . The travel agent says people re book year after year with this company . I would say have a good look around and when it comes to the optional excursions (which are costly) find out exactly what you will get - 10 mins on the dog sled or an hour or more.
Good luck and enjoy , so much more exciting than a week or two getting skin cancer on the beach :rotfl:When it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0
